Steve, that's what I was thinking. If they're not gonna play football, maybe they should turn it into a celebrity event, like those MTV "Rock and Jock" games where teams were made up of male and female entertainers, mixed with pro baseball or basketball players.

My take on the whole Manning thing is that it has become a circus. Everyday there is some sportswriter or broadcaster claiming to have insider knowledge of the status of Manning. There is more being written about his status then the Super Bowl itself and that stinks. If he is not able bring on Luck. I am not one to make the comparison of Luck replacing Manning to Manning replacing Harbough. Jim for all the good thing he did is not headed for the Hall of Fame...well not as a player anyway. If Manning cannot play they yes it is time to move on. The team would have to do that at some point anyway.

As for the pro bowl, what a waste of time. Not really an all star game anymore if in fact it ever was. Dump the thing or come up with a way to make it a real game.

"When the need arises, the tool or object closes to you becomes a hammer." - from Murphy's Law and Other Reasons Why Things Go Wrong

I've been on record disliking the Belichick/Brady Patriots for many years. But it's things like using Hernandez as a running back and Edelman as a DB that make this team a thrill to watch, regardless of whether I want them to win or lose.

Well, if you've got the time:

Giants had a very easy rode to the Superbowl. (Packers played there worst game of the year, 49ers with 2 crucial turnovers to lose the game). Everybody is like Giants, Giants, Giants and even the Giants themselves seem a little happy/surprised where they are.

Brady did not play well the last time these two teams played and will want to redeem himself. I pick the Patriots!

The Peyton Manning drama is really distracting from the Super Bowl in my opinion. Jim Irsay is making Jerry Jones look smart and needs to put away the Blackberry already. Peyton needs to keep quiet also. SH is going to be happy when Peyton puts the Jets in a better position offensively. The Jets should make a move on Drew Brees in my opinion.

Tom Brady has the chance the match Terry Bradshaw and Joe Montana in Super Bowl wins. If Julian Edelman gets a pick six on a ball meant for Manningham, Bill Belichick could become the best NFL coach ever. Tom Coughlin could retire from the Giants as their greatest coach ever.

Bill Belichick has a very simple game plan. Tell Tom Brady to throw the ball to Ocho Cinco cuz the Giants don't have much film on 85.

The Patriots had their opportunities but dropped the ball. I think Tom Brady got too greedy on the play where his ball was intercepted. I thought Mario Manningham should have got the MVP for making that amazing catch. That's okay because the Eagles are gonna win it next year!

Keep working hard and don't count yourself out.

I agree with all that except the Eagles line.
The sad thing for Brady, he had Gronk open but underthrew it. Lead him a little, and that's a touchdown.

I'm very happy and relieved that the Giants won, but I feel very sorry for Robert Kraft and family. Mr. Kraft was crestfallen after that Hail Mary miss, as seen from NBC's replay after the trophy presentation. And unfortunately, while Bob Costas was narrating that replay, "Empire State of Mind" was playing on the P.A. system.

On a lighter note, this is my Facebook post seconds after the last play:
Quote:
Oh, baby! They did it! The New York Giants win Super Bowl XLVI! My hands are numb from anxiety.

I wasn't kidding. I was also taking deep breaths trying to relax myself during the last drive, after Ahmad Bradshaw's accidental touchdown. wink
