Okay, some young people I know are plotting a "flip cup" party. Last week, I overheard this group discussing a New Year's Eve party that I apparently was invited to without being told. My thing is, overhearing their conversation doesn't give me the right to go. I think it's rude to show up when neither the host nor a guest spoke to me directly. But evidently my absence on New Year's Eve was noticed. Because when this group stopped talking about tonight's event, the one who was spreading the word made a point of saying, rather loudly, that I'm included. Age is not a factor in whom I socialize with. But given a choice between a bar where there's live music and playing flip cup, I choose the bar. And the fact that at least two of the people going to the flip cup party are attractive, under-25 women, doesn't faze me. Does this officially qualify me as a fuddy-duddy?

Normally, something like this would go under the heading of: "Please, no more movies with .." Two men fighting, on top of a moving train (Speed) or in a building and end up in the street (Mission Impossible III) and the bad guy gets decapitated. Well, something like that really happened this past weekend. It was around 1:30 a.m. in Chicot County, Arkansas. A truck driver had just crossed the Mississippi River bridge and was rounding a curve near a construction zone when he felt a bump. He stopped 4-5 miles later because his radiator was leaking. Another motorist stopped and told him he'd run over 2 men who were lying in the highway. State troopers came to investigate and discovered that the 2 who were killed had been fighting.

Bizarre triple play Well, the home plate umpire did look like he was calling it foul. But the Dodgers did the right thing by playing it through.

Anybody else intrigued/confused by Lionel Ritchie going country. Or doing duets with many of the top country stars? Just wondering the motivation behind it? His album is doing very well.

"Stuck On You" is a great example. I don't see much of a difference between country and R&B.
