A great time was had by all when Spyro Gyra came to the Rams Head in Annapolis on Sunday night, Nov. 20th. The guys were in tip top form. The guys had us rocking and jumping from the first number to the last. Here's the lineup:

1. Caribe. Then after Jay switched saxes, they went right into,
2. Samba for Two.
Jay then introduced the guys. Then he stated for the next three songs they would take us back 30 years.
3. Shaker Song, into
4. Catching the Sun, into,
5. Morning Dance
Jay then introduced Julio Fernandez' next song:
6. De La Luz
Then Jay introduced Scott's song
7. Dancing on Table Mountain
Jay then introduced Bonny's song
8. Sweet Ole Thang
After the song, Jay, Scott, Julio, and Tom took a break. Bonny stayed to entertain us for about 10 minutes.
The guys came back and each did a little solo bit with the highlight being Jay playing two saxes at once. (I thought it would have been a great time for them to go into Funkyard Dog! But they didn't.)
They ended the formal concert with
9. Falling Walls.

The encore was
10. Cayo Hueso
As usual, the guys stayed around to talk and sign autographs. I just wished they could have played longer.

One interesting thing happened to me: As I was arriving about one and a half hours before the show, I ran into Tom coming out of the Rams Head. I told him I would be back to see him shortly. He thanked me. I also said for him to not get lost on his way out into Annapolis. He laughed and stated that he was only going down the street.

Just a truly great night!

Thanks for the review Jay. I'm going to try and see them when they play Blues Alley next month, actually, in just about two weeks. Looking forward to hearing the new material, and, it will be nice to hear "De La Luz" again. I've always liked that song, especially the live version.

My guess is that Tom was headed to the coffee shop down the street....

Sorry to say that the group will not be at Blues Alley. That date was never booked. It got advertised because of a miscommunication between the band's agency and the Blues Alley management.
