Dave Koz - Hello Tomorrow - This CD has a great mix of music and musicians. I was surprised to see Harvey Mason, Jr. eventhough Koz has worked with guys outside the smooth jazz scene before. Evan Rogers and Carl Sturken, the guys who helped make Rihanna a household name, team up with Koz again.

Harvey Mason, Jr. is the drummer in Fourplay and has played on several Bob James albums. He has played much smmoth jazz.

You are confusing him with his dad, Harvey Mason, Sr., who is the drummer for Fourplay. Junior is the R&B music producer.

Paul Taylor - Prime Time - This is definately his best record in awhile. It's more on the pop vibe than the last 3 records which I thought were too close to the sound guys like Richard Elliot are doing ad nauseum. You gotta have your own niche sound and style to make it in this market.

It's a great collection of songs that fit Paul Taylor perfectly. My favorite is 'Moment of Truth'. I almost expected Pitbull to be on the intro of 'Don't Wanna Let You Go'.

Oh, my gosh. I got Dave Samuels' "Ten Degrees North" in the player for the first time in a very long time. Of course, the title song, Real World, Ivory Coast and Walking on the Moon are never far from the random song playing in my head. But I'd forgotten how awesome Para Pastorius is. And Rendesvous, nice.

Since I'm going to see Matt Marshak with Oli Silk and Joey Sommerville at the Houndstooth Pub in New York City on Saturday, I felt the need to get Oli's most recent album, "All We Need."
Meanwhile, I have two albums that I pre-ordered arriving:
Bob James & Keiko Matsui - Altair & Vega
Acoustic Alchemy - Roseland

Tony Bennett's Duets 2 is out: pop and jazz. Lady GaGa with Tony on "Lady is a Tramp" blew me away. Take away the on-stage craziness, and that girl can really sing.

I haven't heard much from Maysa lately, but I do recall her appearing as a guest on some smooth jazz albums a while back. A very good voice.

I expanded my Pat Metheny collection by buying some of his solo albums: "Watercolors," "New Chautauqua," and "Orchestrion." I also bought two Lyle Mays albums--"Lyle Mays" and "Street Dreams"--and the Pat/Lyle collaboration "As Falls Wichita..."
