Re: The weather. Is it the wussifiction of America, or just being intelligent and erring on the side of caution?I guess they ARE being consistant. Protecting players from helmet to helmet stuff-stands to reason that they`d err on cautions side to protect the actual well being of players, coaches-AND FANS. Weather seemed particularly intense-very cold, snowy, and 20 mph winds. If a fan or player had died-major black eye and media monmornQB`ing. RE-The Saints/Atl-LOL! But hey! CALIFORNA as well, did not say that N.O.was so 2009! Hey-deys da NFL Champs! Sure-it has been a much, much tougher season for em. But certain teams like N.O. have talent enough and QB`s with iron wills-N.E., INDY,and a couple of others have fought through tough going, bad play and injuries and are right there. I aint overlooking Green Bay and Atl by any stretch tho. Those two teams look tough don`t they?!

If snow had fallen and the NFL had assessed the situation as dangerous, it would have been the right move to call off the game. Did I see all the snow in Philly? No. However, 4-5 inches of snow is not a lot of snow to deal with when you are adequately prepared to respond. It was not a blizzard. I recalled the Patriots beating the Bears in a white out a few weeks ago. Postponing the game because of snow sets a bad precedent. Is rain next?

Kids don't play dodgeball in school anymore because "they might get hurt". When I was a kid, I played outside. Our society on a whole is becoming more wimpy than ever.

So the NFL ticked off the fans who had tix for Sunday-for NOTHING?Because a large %-age will NOT be able to make a Tuesday night game.. NBC and the t.v. crew came on the air for 90 mims, explained the why. Though the TV revenues will suffer-there was no outrage. Not from NBC or either team. Strange. Is it jus possible it was the right thing to do? Maybe? Perhaps, Possibly?

Seems most fans get to the game 3-6 hours early anyway to tailgate so, if anything, it may have cut down on the amount of tailgate time but that's about it. As far as fan safety and liability, I think when you purchase a ticket it absolves the team ownership of pretty much all liability if you were to get hurt.

I agree with Steve about the liability. If a piece of the stadium falls on you, the team owes your family. But if you slip and fall, that's part of the risk you take by going outside.
I think the NFL wasn't thinking of the teams or the fans so much as the conflict. As I understand it, a state of emergency was declared and ALL motorists were told to stay off the roads. It would not have looked good if they said, "Stay off the roads unless you're going to the game."
On the other hand, Goodell was all excited about the selection of New Jersey (eh, New York was what they said, but we all know better) for a Super Bowl. With the precedent being set in the Philly game, I'd hate to think he's setting himself up for a double standard should New York (eh, New Jersey) be blanketed on the day of the big game.
NFL on a Tuesday night? That means every night except Wednesday has had regular season games in the past 10 years. I'd like to see an experiment with a few mid-week games scheduled.

Here's a guy who quietly does his job and does it well. While all the talk is about Vick, Maclin, Jackson or McCoy, Jason Avant slips under the radar. Something tells me he likes it that way.

***WAITING PATIENTLY FOR APOLOGY FROM THE GUY WHO SAID NFL DELAYED GAME SO FAVRE COULD PLAY...AN APOLOGY WITH NO, "YEAH BUT`S" OR EXCUSES.JUST APOLOGIZE AND SAY YOU WERE WRONG-AGAIN. Had not heard that a state of emergency was in effect! That is all I needed to hear. Imagine if weather turned extreme and 50,000 were stranded.Since Bush(Brownie-yer doin a heckuva job!)is there any wonder the choice was to be cautious? Tonight`s game was good. Minnesota`s offensive line looked fresh and blocked better on passing and running plays than they have in many, many weeks. Now-is Philly as good as their record?

It's just snow! It's the east coast! They are use to it. They are not a bunch of candy asses over there. You are from southern Cal and probably don't understand.

The Vikings don't need to look very far for a new QB. Joe Webb showed a lot of NFL QB ability much like Tim Tebow is doing in Denver. Athletic guys aren't always given the chance to show what they can do. Joe Webb was brought in to catch balls? People wanted to make Tebow a tight end?

Teams are going to blitz Philly because Philly does not run the ball much. Philly needs to add more running because defenses key on Vick.

I just can't understand calling a "state of emergency" for an event that had not occurred. Snow happens in the NE. It seems like they had ample time to be prepared for the forecasted events.
