SURELY, injuries are a factor but they are not an EXCUSE for not achieving success. Every team has to deal with unseen circumstances. For example, Kevin Faulk was a long time part of the Patriots offense and Brady was very comfortable dumping the ball off to him. He goes down and they bring in Danny Woodhead. Fred Taylor gets injured. They use Benjarvus Green Ellis. I can guarantee that even if Brady went down Brian Hoyer is prepared to execute the offense. I expect the Patriots to bring the wood in bad weather! Belichick is going to prepare his team to execute against the Bears defense which is no better than the Jets or Steelers defense. After being embarrased by Cleveland, Belichick isn't going to take the Bears lightly. Cutler at this stage in his career is not that much better than Mark Sanchez.

I have been blessed with an early Christmas present from the Indiana Lottery in the form of a Colts game package. Get a pair of nice seats and deluxe downtown hotel room for the night of the game, along with some cash and gift certificates for food and the team gift shop. The also tossed in a game ball from the game we are going to (Jan 2nd vs the Titans). Given that the Colts are sold out unti the day Manning retires ( and maybe beyond) this may likely be my one chance to see my team in person. And who says there is no Santa Claus!
Congrats on the tickets! However, the Titans are going to beat the Colts on Thursday. It's over, Johnny!

Despite the win, I still don't see the Colts making it to the post-season. While Manning is far from being done, I don't think they can win three more games with that defense. They are the one-trick ponies for real! If it weren't for a bad snap and a receiver carrying the ball like a loaf of bread, the Colts would be down for the count.
Titans need someone to cover Reggie Wayne. Is Blair White available?

Oh I think that can beat any the three remaining teams. Now it will not be easy, you have the Jags, Raiders and Titans once again. Those will all be tough games. The defense is basicly the same one they hae have the past few years. It does not do real well against the run, they are prone to giving up big plays but they are tough in the red zone. In some ways they are better they last because the are now prone to blitz more often. Sucess comes if they can repeat last night. Find some form of a running game. Does not have to be great, but does have to be enough to force linebackers to honor the play action. Defense has to keep pressure on the QB and keep the running game somewhat in check. And most of all do not make stupid mistakes.
Yes they caught a break on the punt, but that is just a part of the game. Much line the leverage mistake against Dallas. Don't get stupid there and the Cowboyus get three not seven and there is not OT. Colts made a mistake Cowboys took advantage of it. Last night Titans made the mistake, Colts took advangtage of it. Just part of playing the game.
The Colts did well enough with catching the ball, running the ball that Manning was not left with having to force the ball the where it should not be going. Great catches by Garcon and Wayne, some timely running by Jarvis James on a fourth down are what kept them in the game.
If they can get Addai back in time for the Jags not mention Collie things will be better. Maybe Rhodes can even find some of his past performances to help the cause. This will be a tough three game stretch for the Colts to be sure, but their fate is in their own hands. Win and your in. How far can they go in the playoffs? I might have to concede that it is not likely they get back to the Super Bowl. But with this bunch it is very hard to simply dismiss them has one trick ponies my friend.....they have a lot weapons for Manning to use, if they have them all healthy. Play their game and not shootthemselves in the foot...dropped balls, untimely penalities ect. and they will be fine.

But you don't know.
The Colts aren't back. They just played a team that lacks mental toughness and the focus to get the job done. If the Colts had beaten a contender last night, the Colts would have shown me enough to say, "They are back"! Their defense is worse than ever. What kind of defense lets a team on a 5 game losing streak come back on them? The run game is worse than ever. The passing game is worse than ever. The special team is worse than ever.
Stop watching ESPN already!

For what it's worth, my attempt at mediating this dispute. The Colts are in the AFC South. Nobody in that division has shown the ability to take charge. The Colts are only a half-game behind Jacksonville. Sad to say it, but somebody has to win that division. They've still got a shot at making the playoffs. However, this team is in bad shape. Over the course of the season, Manning's heroics - when he's had good games - are the primary reason they were where they are. The running game has shown intermittent reasons for hope that they'll get it together, but because the O-line isn't up to par, all phases of the Colts' offense are ragged, inconsistent. The defense, as it has been, is small. That means other teams that can run the football will do well late in games. They can hold their own against passing teams, but running teams can wear the Colts defense down.

A pretty good argument for football being played outdoors: Metrodome roof collapses

Football should be played outdoors anyways! I don't like climate-controlled enclosures for football. In multipurpose, entertainment facilities like Lucas Oil and Jerry Jones Stadium, I'm not always sure what other factors besides the climate are being controlled. I know God has no interest in the outcomes of games between men. However, men are known to do things to control outcomes.
The Metrodome roof is basically a balloon. They only need to remove the snow; patch up and replace any openings; and a re-inflate.
