I think that I've finally discovered and tracked down all the Bonus Tracks that SG released on the non-US versions (mainly Japan) of their albums:
Best Thing- Heart Of The Night Return Of The Pygmy-20/20 Three Gentlemen-In Modern Times Friendly Fire-Dreams Beyond Control The Unwritten Letter (live)-Road Scholars Open Season- Love and Other Obsessions Close Up-Original Cinema

Close-Up is track 6 of Original Cinema, unless you're talking about an alternate take.

Interesting. The U.S. releases of Spyro Gyra's CDs have usually been one track short from the version that's exported overseas. This is the official track listing: Original Cinema Your CD is 1 short. I cannot explain that.

When you state that you`ve now tracked down all the bonus tracks, it makes me think that I am a weak fan in comparison. I only learned of their existence on the MI pages a year or two back in a similar thread. Moreover, I`ve never heard any of them! HOW DID YOU TRACK THEM DOWN? Was it the simple but costly way--buying two copies of each disc? Would ya list the writing credits of each-or are they all Jay penned? Would ya describe them as best as possible? Are any so incredible that you wonder WHY any bonus track did not make the official release? PERHAPS PHIL WOULD CONSIDER MAKING THE FIRST NEW ADDS TO THE MP3 PAGE BY POSTING THEM THERE! OR-RELEASE THEM AS A BONUS DISC WHEN THE EVENTUAL NEXT COMPILATION(BEST OF....)IS RELEASED. Peace. Paul

Hey, Paul, I asked that same question if a compilation could be made of those bonus tracks. I don't remember the exact wording, but when this first came up - I want to say it was about 6 years ago - the explanation given was that extra tracks are added to exports for economic reasons. Here's a Wikipedia explanation: bonus or hidden tracks Part of that explanation: The bonus track as a marketing technique: Japan is the one of largest music markets in the world. However, music is more expensive there than in America or Europe, so Japanese labels often arrange for additional content in the locally printed discs in an attempt to be competitive with imports.

Ahhh hah! Click- the lightbulb goes on! Thanks jazzwriter-you once again found the answer. Ya can learn somethin everyday here at Magic Island. It looks as if the band may have more than a few tracks per record in the CD era that are still in the vaults insofar as America releases are concerned. Funny to think that Road Scholars had TWO bonus tracks-one studio cut and one live.My memory now jogged, I do recall that back 20-25 years ago that American CD`s featured bonus tracks to encourage purchase of discs over vinyl, back when vinyl was still in wide use.

I stumbled upon the bonus tracks and then just started comparing the US releases to their Japanese counterparts; as far as quality, they're definitely first rate! If I'm correct and the count of 7 tracks stands, then it's like discovering a lost EP.

A few years ago, the subject of bonus tracks came up. I think it was these same songs. Another member posted a more detailed answer. I couldn't remember exactly what was said, but the Wikipedia reference is pretty close to what I remember.

The obvious question to this reporter is: Do the overseas releases of the four most recent releases including Down The Wire, Good To Go-Go, The Deep End, etc, contain bonus tracks?
