Back in the day(look at me, using one of the `old hat cliches` that bugs the heck out of me)-ok,ok-when some of us first got "LOST" here in the heaven that is Magic Island- I started threads asking posters to list their five favorites by Tom Schuman, Jay Beckenstein, Juilo Fernandez, and Dave Samuels. I don`t recall doing this with the great Jeremy Wall, who contributes compositions to Spyro Gyra records even till today. I thought it might be fun to do it for Wall in a different way--in sort of a bracket elimination. HENCE--Breakout vs Breezeway! I like both songs, but one has the edge. Since I started the thread. I will hold off listing my winner for a few days or weeks. LET THE CONTEST BEGIN!

Wow....that's a tough one!! I'll go with Breakout. I has a Rock/Swing mix that makes it very different from all the other songs.

Joy Ride is one if not my favorite song from Jeremy!!!

Honorable Mention - "Ariana" & "Inside your Love"

Breakout, hands down. Breezeway is cool, but is a bit too mellow and smooth to be fairly considered in a competition against Breakout. Breakout jams from the opening note until the fade, with solid solos by Tom, Dave, Jay and Julio's guitar rocks. Awesome bass line by Kim, too.

PS. also Yosemite, which simply must be one of my all time favourites (although it gets complicated because I have at least 30 all time favourite Spyro Gyra songs ). I love Joy ride , very 80s ! Starburst, Heartbeat , Midnight, Islands in the sky, Oasis...

Maybe I should have made it Joyride vs Breakout--would that have been a tougher call-with Oasis waiting at ringside? That`s like Aii vs Louis vs Marciano-and we are leaving some greats out huh?
