And here is a link to a brand new, free podcast that was just published, all about the creation and recording of "Dreaming of Trains" and what the new music means to me.

I apologize if I am posting one too many times here but I have to mention the interview that I did recently with Magicisland's own Shannon West about the music and the making of my upcoming CD "Dreaming of Trains"

I have done hundreds of interviews and this is probably the most insightful one I have ever done, thanks to Shannon's questions and the direction she took the interview in.

Since late January, I've played several cuts from "Dreaming of Trains" on my radio show. In fact, I'm playing "True Stories" a second time tomorrow night.

Thanks very much Mike - and it's very cool that you are playing "True Stories". It is one of the centerpieces of the new album for me. Your show sounds better than ever by the way.

Ken; I have thousands upon thousands of recordings yet somehow this latest project seems to fill a hole that was missing in my collection...not sure if that makes sense to anyone. I think I told you my favorite is "The Stars, The Snow, The Fire".

I'm listening to it now while working on the laptop (and waiting for NASCAR to start) and my bride came in and asked, "who is that?". She only does that when she likes something because later I'll find it missing.

What a great job. Thank you.

Belated thank you, Ken. I played "The Stars, The Snow, The Fire" last night. It was my version of an April Fools' joke since it's spring and temps were in the 60s. wink I'm too nice to play a true joke.

Thanks DW and Mike -

"Dreaming of Trains" continues to do very well (for example, Top 10 at Amazon for most of the past month) and the positive reviews keep coming. Here's the latest one (Jazz Times) -

http://jazztimes.com/articles/25953-dreaming-of-trains-ken-navarro

The main challenge for me continues to be reaching the audience that wants much more than another "smooth" jazz album with the same grooves and predictable cover songs. So I continue to work hard every day making music and working hard at the business of music as well (that's what helps me to keep making new music!).

The First Annual Charlotte Jazz Fest was an incredible success, both musically and with a huge turnout. The large outdoor venue was packed and Charles Whitfield and Tammy Greene with the help of their top drawer staff created a major event in a city where there has been no contemporary jazz radio for many years. And it was good to meet you Fendercaster at the CD signing! I hope to see you at the Second Annual Charlotte Jazz Fest in 2011.

I bought this the other day and am absolutely floored by it. One of the best smooth jazz discs that I've bought in a great while. Very different, too. Just excellent stuff.

I'm happy to let my friends at Magic Island know that "Dreaming of Trains" was pre-nominated for Two (2) Grammy Awards this year - Best Instrumental Composition & Best Instrumental Pop Album.

Crossing my fingers......
