I'm still loving "Burning"! It represented a change of pace and a chance to show off a new embrasure but I felt the production and music was a big departure from the unique, signature sounds cultivated on records like "Pleasure Seeker" and "Undercover". Your sound on those recordings is like a purple cow in a pasture of holsteins. This record was closer to what other sax players are doing, i.e., Richard Elliot, Kirk Whalum, Kim Water, ect.
I loved the exotic rhythm programming, bass, otherworldly synth pad textures, and weird guitars. I'm into jazz and traditional music instrumentation but I'm not oppossed to using soft synths and turning knobs to get a sound. As a listener, I like hot beats, bass, and melody.
