Any Spyro historians here? Chet Catallo tells me he's a 6 time Grammy nominee, but I can't find any information to back that up. I see that Spyro Gyra won awards, but nothing for Mr. Catallo individually. Can any of you fill me in with some facts? The Grammy organization's site is no help whatsoever.

I'm not sure if they've ever won but they recently received their 13th nomination, if i'm not mistaken...

Why would you doubt Chet?
The group has been nominated several times, but I don't believe they've ever won a Grammy.

several nominations, but no Grammy yet -- hoping this is the year. "Down the Wire" is such an awesome release and really very deserving.

I talked about that with Julio about that when i saw them at Arturo Sandoval's jazz club and they were expecting that Fergie would win the grammy for her song with the sampled "morning dance". Don't know if she did!!

Because I can only find nominations for the entire band, not for him as an individual player. I don't follow the Grammys closely, so I don't even know if this sort of thing happens. In other words, do individual players EVER get nominated for their participation on a recording, while the rest of the band does not? I'm referring to musicians, not producers, album designers, etc.

I think the only case where that would happen is if the group was nominated for Best Song, and that individual wrote it. If he was nominated individually, I think it most likely as a solo artist.
