Wow! Can you tell what type of machine he's playing?

Alesis HR-16B drum machine. He's using that box to trigger sounds from a Yamaha DTXTREME 2S electronic percussion system.

I can't tell what specific equipment (looks like a Yamaha RM1) he's using in the video but you can do it with something like a Korg Nanopad, NI Maschine, or Akai MPC midied to a sound source like Toontrack, BFD, or some other acoustic drum sample source. It helps to have percussion skills also.

This machine-type drum kit is kind of like Futureman, from Bela Fleck and the Flecktones who uses a drum machine he plays with his hands.

But for me, what's really cool is seeing two bass players -- one on piccolo bass (?) and one laying it down as usual. And for the solo not to be hijacked by the guitar player -- the piccolo player got it!
