One thing I notice whenever my group comes up with a new composition, or has to come up with a name for the band, there's always a reluctance for the band members to even brainstorm ideas for a name. This has been true in every single group I've been in. I end up being the lone man on the to figure out the name, and it's usually left to me.
I finally asked my current group point blank -- why does everyone clam up and play it safe whenever the name of the band is up for discussion? Or the name of a tune is up for discussion?
Answers:
"I don't want to be responsible for it if it backfires"
"I've never thought myself creative with names".
