What does the W.I. stand for? I really like that song...it's one of my most favorites. I am really curious to know. Thanks in advance.

I think W.1. refers to London W1 (West One) the central area of the city of London, where, as in the rest of England, it rains quite often.

Rainwatching is one of those simple yet beautiful AA songs, from my favourite 'early period' AA album.

I would almost certainly believe that is stands for West Indies
As it does rain a fair amount in Trinidad

Maybe ask Stewart!

I'm guessing West Indies as well. Now I'm curious. Oh Ruthless One! Can you please clear this up for us? Inquiring minds want to know.

Knew I had read it somewhere...

Among the highlights on Positive Thinking are the hypnotic, gently percussive "Passionelle" (whose rhythm scheme recalls their classic "Reference Point"); "Rainwatching W.I.", a thoughtful reflection on a rainy day in London;

...words taken from the review of Positive Thinking on the In Memoriam for Nick Webb page, on this very forum:

UK 1 USA 0, I believe.

well thanks for exploring the website and reading the memorial page.

James & I are working on a new website, with some new features and content.... and I promise to make the font bigger and more readable!

Confirmed at the Town Crier show last night that Rainwatching W.I stands for the West 1 london section. Nick had a flat there and would stare at the rain from his place thus the name of the beautiful song.
