Ok....Tippen Point has retaken the lead for the number one track on this great new record.

It is a great sign that these compositions have staying power this many weeks 'down the wire'....

Look out...I am back to La Zona Rosa....it is sneaking back in on the outside.....!!!!

We are lucky fans are we not??

A couple of the the other venerable bands in contemporary jazz have released discs this year that have been an overall disappointment to most of their core fans. We are fortunate that this has been and extremely rare occurance with Spyro Gyra....and even those records (TT aqnd GTM) had moments that redeemed those records overall.

Peace, and thanks again Jay Tom, Julio Scott and Bonny B!!
Paul

TT? Am I having memory lapse or what?
Paul, you're analysis sounds like a horse race. Maybe that can be the title of their next project, eh: something along the lines of Run for the Roses. heh heh

OK 20/20!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Or "Triple Crown"

Or "In to the STRETCH!!!!

But that would have been a prequel to down the wire.

Aw, man. Down the Wire just now got out of my rotation, and now you guys are making me want to put it on again.
A typical cycle for a CD is 3-4 weeks, to be played all the way through at least 4 times. A new release gets up to 3 additional spins for first-listen and review purposes. DTW got 10, and that's not counting the repeat plays on The Tippin' Point and Ice Mountain.

Thought that I would finally comment after starting this back in February. Initally, I just wasn't getting the "feeling" as in previous new releases. But as I was driving home from work a few weeks ago, I cranked up "A Flower for Annie Jeanette", "La Zona Rosa", "What It Is", and "A Distant Memory". This group of songs did the trick as I went "Down the Wire". Compositions by Julio, Scott and Bonny are exceptional, and just add to the entire group's ability to explore and create new music. "Down the Wire" is as good as it gets.

Has anyone published any recent set lists? I am curious what the boys are playing live from "Down the Wire".

I think my computer at home has fallen in love with Ice Mountain, too. The updated Windows Media Player has a flaw. I normally play ripped songs on random. With previous versions, if I choose "unrated," that's all I get. But with the new version, it will show me only the unrated songs but after so many tracks, it will call up several rated songs.
Ice Mountain has come up 5 times this week.

Okay, got "Down the Wire". I can now claim that CD is the only CD case that now has a crack in the top of the case. Duh, I leaned on it - oops.

Saying that any album is better than another is like saying that each album is not different or distinct. Sure there is always "Incognito" or "Catching the Sun" or heaven forbid - "Morning Dance", although "Stories without Words" seemed to be a bit fast from 20 some years ago. But Tom, did the Fender Rhodes die because forever will I listen to "Paula/Paw Prints? Just joking. But, from Alternating Currents to your Point of View onto your Fast Forward to your BreakOut onto your Rites of Summer to your Freetime (always still) to the new listeners, the only thing that interferes with "Spyro Gyra" seems to be the rest of this planet.

Got to go! (Paula/Paw Prints out the door.)
