Well WNUA may have been one of the first to play smooth jazz, but frankly I had given up on them years ago. They became more of an soft r&b that played smooth jazz now and again. I knew that a oouple of the long time dj's had left a few weeks back and had a feeling something was up. I can't really say that I will miss them much. Don't think their ratings were all that bad. They had been staying in the top 7 in Chicago for a long time. May have to look that up. Good old Clear Channel up to their old stupip programing tricks again.

While WNUA has died smooth jazz is still available in the greater Chicgo market via the net in the form of Chitownsmoothjazz.com they re offering several channels to choose from. The main channel seems to follow the old tried and true mix of jazz and soft vocals from pop and r&b. But they are also offering a mix of just instrumentals and channels devoted to piano, sax, and guitar and a couple of others as well. They are asking for feedback to build on and if they stay true to the goal, this could and should develope into a nice site. Rick O'Dell who was the mid day host at WNUA is a part of all off this. It sounds from the info they have that this is something that is going to be set up elsewhere as well. Nice to hear some familiar voices though talk is very limited.
