the new CD comes out on April 14th. I encourage you to listen to the samples at http://www.berniewilliams.com/music/music_eng.php

Bernie is a remarkable talent. As wonderful as his baseball career was, music was always his outlet.

I had the pleasure of listening to Bernie 2 years ago at a Gala event and he blew me away. His new CD is going to be great.... give it a listen.

Look at the players....

Product Description
Critically acclaimed guitarist/songwriter, famed Yankee BERNIE WILLIAMS is set for his sophomore album MOVING FORWARD. The Puerto Rico native, classically-trained musician developed his love for playing guitar alongside baseball, while listening to salsa, merengue and 80s rock. Williams played his 16-year career with the New York Yankees where he was a 4x World Series Champion and a 5x All Star (also among the Yankees all-time leaders in every major batting category).

This album features original instrumentals written/performed by Williams, playing alongside musicians such as Dave Weckl (drums), Mike Stern (guitar), Scott Henderson (guitar), Dave Koz (sax), Giovanni Hidalgo (percussion). A special collaboration with Jon Secada and a track with Bruce Springsteen, Patti Scialfa and Bernie performing Glory Days are included.

MOVING FORWARD is co-produced by Williams and Loren Harriet - who also helmed Bernie's 2003 acclaimed debut The Journey Within, that debuted #3 on Billboard's Contemporary Jazz Album Chart, #8 on Heatseekers, while being the 11th best seller in New York that year.

We are pretty happy here in the NY-CT area. Bernie is playing free concerts in Borders and Fye next week. It will be mobbed, and so my Brother (aka the Greatest NY Yankees fan) and I are heading to Broadway for the CD release show which also features Jeff Golub.

I don't have a media pass for this one.... there are many sports writers attending. So I won't be dragging the camera gear.

Anyhow... here's an older and a new review of Bernie. You can get a nice package of his 1st CD and DVD from Amazon.

(I got a chuckle out of the above review which compared his sound to Acoustic Alchemy, that's quite a nod!)

The new CD is really great! Very Latin-influenced from his upbringing in Puerto Rico. Amazing rocker-style guitar on a few tracks.

well the electric guitar stuff is probably Mike Stern....

just like the 1st CD, Bernie has some amazing collaborations.

I can't wait to see the show.... with Jeff Golub.

Bernie Williams show on Broadway was sold out....

An all star band was on stage, including Jeff Golub and Joel Rosenblatt.

To see from video from FOX NY and another about the making of the CD...
http://www.myfoxny.com/dpp/good_day_ny/090414_New_Music_from_Bernie_Williams

Most of the music came from the new CD, but there was one song from the 1st CD. Jon Secada sang “Just Another Day” with the Harlem Boys and Girls Choir. Hiram Williams (Bernie's Brother) played the cello on “Lullaby for Beatriz”, which was lovely. Bernie played “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” as an encore. The tune before the encore was “Glory Days” – which sounded great with the choir and the solo singer from the choir.

I encourage you to listen to this CD, it's remarkable.

I haven't really heard anything from him until today....WOW! Looks like a trip to Best Buy is in order for me. This is worth buying without listening to any 'teaser' tracks(loss of words). It is amazing that this guy has as much talent as he does and most folks(myself) only know him as a Baseball great. Good stuff! I will give my thoughts tomorrow after I find the CD. Mikey

Thanks, Kat. Great video clip. Jeff was looking pretty relaxed there! This is a great CD. Just bought about half the tracks. Listening to it right now. Couple of the tracks could easily be Acoustic Alchemy tracks; they are that good. Thanks again. Would not have stumbled upon this one.

Best,

Steve C

Bernie was on Mike Huckabee's weekly talk show, "Huckabee," tonight on Fox News Channel. He was on for two segments: a sit-down interview featuring a surprise appearance (via satellite) by Joe Torre, and a performance with the Governor and the Little Rockers, a band made up of FNC employees. They played "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" and "Moving Forward," the title track.

I caught him a few weeks back on a late night talk show. He played the "Moving Forward" track. I enjoyed it. Dave Weckl was on drums. Better yet.

yeah... we had Joel Rosenblatt on drums when Bernie played here...

I thought about wandering into the city tonight to see Bernie at the Iridium.

You can see the Craig Ferguson Show clip here:

(and yes, that's Leland Sklar on bass.)
