Hello Paul!

Love the title "Burnin"! I'm feeling the heat already (sorry I couldn't resist). A new CD and lots of concerts should take care of all of our "PT withdrawals" your fans have been going through. I'm greatly looking forward to it and wishing you wonderful success!

Hi Mandi, Pam and Janet!

Now that spring is here, concerts are just "Around the corner"!

Don't pay the ransom; I escaped!

I've been soooo busy I haven't been able to get here and check
to see what's going on. Looks like I missed an announcement of
a new Paul Taylor release. Man; that's good news. Yes, I too
am eager for concerts in 2009.

I've got lots going on, but hope to see you all at a PT event
someplace this year.

Everyone,

I know you're all anticipating Paul Taylor's "Burnin'" CD.

However, the release date has been moved to Aug. 11, 2009.

Just thought everyone would want to know.

Expect product on Peak from Paul Taylor, Jessy J, Peter White, Will Downing and All-4-One later this year.

And maybe more.

Signed,

Eric Viccaro

Wow, what a bummer, I was hoping it would come out sooner than later...it's all good though. I better get another copy of Ladie's Choice so I don't wear out the first one, now that I will have to wait!

Hi Eric,

I was just checking in hoping to see an announcement of the Burnin' release date. This is not what I was hoping for ....aaaahhhhhhh, I am so ready! I will be patient, at least we have summer concerts to hold us over.

Thanks for the update.

Paul,

Thanks for clearing it up.

I was going off information that I saw on cduniverse.com.

I am eagerly anticipating the new release as well.

Today, I decided to break out "Undercover," what a classic CD from you.

I am sure the new release will live up to its namesake.

Signed,

Yes, Mandi--that would be just great!! Who knows--one day we may be able to get together for a "PT" party....until then, I'm sure PT will keep us smokin'!! I'm glad Burnin' is coming out soon--it's right on time for a really sizzlin' summertime groove--his timing is perfect!! Can't wait to hear it!

Hey Hey Hey! Thanks Paul for the annoucement.
I'm thrilled to hear "Burnin" has a release date. If anybody looks for me on July 21st, I'll be somewhere getting Burnin'!

Mandi/Kathy,

We might all be in different states but we can have a simultaneous patio party with Paul as the guest of honor. I really like that phrase, very cute and catchy.

I'm with all of you...July 2-1 can't get here soon enough. Well, ok the fourth of July will come first.....Paul, Marion and Michael on stage will bring huge excitement before the fireworks explode.

Can't wait.

Looking at PT's summer tour, he'll be at Jacksonville Beach on June 14th. For those of you in this area (Florida) come on out.
Look for time TBA soon. This summer concert venue is right at the beach, and PT was here a few years back. It was to die for, but we all survived, because he was so g-o-o-d.

Im sure some of my friends here have preordered 1 or more of Pauls cd's in the past , as i have .
Question, did it arrive 'on the release day', or the day after?
My past experience was it did not arrive on release day.
So...just curious.
Thanks!

Below from JazzTrax newsletter:

The JazzTrax Radio Show
Weekend of July 18-19
Listen to this Week's 5-Hour
Showcase of the Absolute Newest!

JazzTrax Guest
Saxophonist Paul Taylor

Talk about bi-coastal....Paul Taylor has lived in Las Vegas since leaving his hometown of Denver for College at UNLV, but he flies to New York to record half his album and then to L.A. to record the other half, using Barry Eastmond to produce his NY work and Rex Rideout his L.A. So bi-coastal that as he flew home from NY, after finishing the project's lead song, Barry added subtle Michael McDonald like vocals from Billy Cliff. Art Good has to tell Paul the name of his singer on the show this weekend because Paul never saw, nor met the man singing to his saxophone. That's the way music goes these days. It's the Debut to America of Burnin'. Paul Taylor is in the JazzTrax Studio to introduce his Brand New, just before he steps off a Boat in Avalon to do some more burnin' in the Avalon Ballroom....looking out to sea, the same Ballroom where after being hired for just one Gig by Jeff Lorber in 1994, Keiko and Kazu Matsui who had sailed over to attend the JazzTrax Festival, walked up to Art Good in the back of the Casino Ballroom inquiring who the saxman was on stage with Lorber.... Art arranged a backstage meeting at JazzTrax and away went Paul Taylor's career!

Had to revisit this thread. Cliff's vocals aren't so bad when used in 'background' vocals context. I don't like his voice as a lead vocal. Back to the cd........Man, this has got to be the best cd of the year! I'm lovin' this. I'm trying to get my band to play some numbers from this! We NEED more of this from all jazz artists! No more conforming to Clear Channel's implied formats! Let the boycott begin! My personal boycott started a long time ago. This is what I'll buy! Real music with heart and soul to it!

Dave hit it on the head. No more conforming. Here's hoping other "smooth" jazz artists follow Paul's lead.

IMHO, PT has always had his own definable sound. In fact, I wish he would do another recording with Dino Esposito a la "Pleasure Seeker" because I like the different cool sounds that Esposito used. On other recordings, he was decisively R&B. I just call for artist to make the record that they want to make. Other than his using the tenor sax, I'm not hearing much that departs from the PT sound. I submit that if he were to make another record like Burnin', he would still be conforming!

So you say this record sounds like his others? I'm not getting what you're saying! Conforming to what??? Point me to another PT record that sounds like this one! Granted he did do another record with 'LIVE' musicians and that cd was hot too!

IMHO, his earlier (sequenced/programmed) works adhere to the contrived format corporate radio imposed on these artists! This record is TOTALLY different than anything that is out there! Get out of the studio and go play some live music with other musicians for a change! I'm tired of all these 'one man band/producer', electronic, sequenced, programmed records!

I don't know the motivations behind his past works but I have been a fan since "On the Horn". I didn't even hate his cover of "I Want Your Love" by Chic. I love this CD too. I have no problem buying a 'one man band/producer', electronic, sequenced, programmed record when I like songs.

I grew up on on Stevie Wonder, Prince, Michael Jackson, and Jam & Lewis so I'm down with one man band playing, multitracking, MPC banging, SP-1200 sampling, VST/RTAS plug-in using, and Auto-Tune abusing set.

Peace

Got my copy yesterday and I must say this is by far the best from Paul to date. Been a fan as many of you have for a long time. This is number 7 by himn in my collection. And yes he seems to have broken from the need to create a radio fiendly project and do what he does best. I have long wondered why when I would go to a concert a see someone perform and love what I was hearing on the stage that that sound could not find itslef to the cd's. Well Paul you have done just that with this release. All I need now is a a mid-west stop on the concert tour!

Love this cd because as I listen I feel the soulful vibes of the low tone of the tenor sax holding the great melody of the song. He created something old into new making me and baby brother a great instrumental tracks love the way Paul comes in smooth and low after the percussion on Side pocket. Remember the Love has that sweet seductive magic. This cd reflects his true passion for his craft, he took what was available and created a whole new dimension with urban grooves.

I have had Burnin' for a couple of weeks, and I like it quite a bit. It is the first PT album I listen to all the way through. I sure wish other smooth jazzers would go that direction. Time will tell.

Kudos to Paul for the fine work.

Peace and goodwill.

Hey T!

Ya know? I've got to maybe one day make a trip out to L.A. just to see you. Hardly had a chance to speak with you at the wedding and we passed like ships in the night on the cruise...but you were radiant!

Anyway; I suppose everyone is so quiet here because they have their cd & mp3 players locked in repeat mode playing 'BURNIN' laugh

Oh; and; how do you like that avatar I'm using? hahahahaha
