I've known
Alphonso Sanders since about 1990-91, and have always been impressed by how he plays the tenor sax. He's music professor at Mississippi Valley State University and director of the B.B. King Recording Studio there. He recently used the studio to record his first CD, Mississippi Influences, which is available at CD Baby and Amazon. Several years ago, he and some other Mississippi jazz artists performed at the Alcorn State Jazz Festival, where they opened for the Yellowjackets (my one and only time seeing the latter group).
