I was surprised to see Spyro Gyra playing in Warsaw on YouTube. Just curious, does any one know where the really popular areas of the United States and the world are for Spyro Gyra? For example, for Abba, it was Australia. And where the spots are in the United States where contemporary jazz groups rarely ever go due to low popularity? (It wouldn't surprise me if Nashville is one of them since it's really a country music hot spot).

In my region, I can name a couple of places where I know they've played several times - Memphis, Jackson and New Orleans. Not every year, like some of those Northeast spots they play regularly.
Also, when I was out West, they made several trips to the Reno/Lake Tahoe area and, of course, Log Angeles.

I can tell you that ever since they came for the first time in 1980...or 81 their shows have been very very successful!!!

Last time was at the heineken jazz fest in 2004 and even though it rained, we all got wet watching the band!! hehehe "Hydro Gyra"

LMBO. Eril, you rock! "Hydro Gyra."
Hey, that could be an album title. Imagine, 9 or 10 songs with an aquatic theme. I'll share residuals with ya if they do it. laugh
