Everyone,
As noted earlier this year, Fourplay has signed with Heads Up International, the fine recording label based in Ohio that is a part of the great Concord Records recording family (Peak, Stax, Hear Music, Concord Picante, et. al).
Heads Up International, in conjunction with Fourplay, has announced that the supergroup's new CD will be called "Energy."
The album is set to release on Tuesday, September 23.
This will be the follow-up to the 2006 release on RCA titled simply "X."
Like the Rippingtons and Spyro Gyra, Fourplay is one of those bands I like to purchase the day the recording comes out. Break out new tires, spend a fortune on gasoline and drive to Wichita.
Signed,
Eric X. Viccaro Back and better than ever and feeling great in the middle of 2008!

Everyone,
The track listing has been released for "Energy" by the contemporary jazz supergroup Fourplay, which consists of Bob James on piano, Harvey Mason drums, Larry Carlton guitar and Nathan East bass.
1, Fortune Teller 2, The Whistler 3, Ultralight 4, Cape Town 5, The Yes Club 6, Prelude For Lovers 7, Look Both Ways 8, Argentina 9, Comfort Zone 10, Sebastian
"Prelude For Lovers" features special guest bassist and vocalist Esperanza Spalding. The song was written in part by Bob James' daughter, Hilary, and her husband Kevin DiSimone.
"Look Both Ways" features a sizzling piano solo by James and great interplay with Larry Carlton.
"Comfort Zone" is really a gem, featuring Nathan East's bass pops and Havery Mason's dynamic stickwork.
"Sebastian" has a classical tinge, as the song pays homage to Johann Sebastian Bach.
"Fortune Teller" is a mid-tempo piece that incorporates a dash of dreamy ambient rhythms.
"Cape Town" features Nathan East's and his brother Marcel East's children singing. Marcel co-wrote this track.
Once again, "Energy," will be released on Tuesday, Sept. 23.
Getting more pumped up about this ditty.
Signed,
Eric X. Viccaro Back . . . and better than ever!

I heard previews on CD Universe. I like the instrumental tracks. Me too!
