Does anyone know the reason why Eric not playing with the band?I sure miss his style, I was hopeing that he would play at the Newport Beach event, but I guess it's Paul Taylor.

You guys need to check this band out, they are truly good....

Big Phat Band website

Eric is such a great player, and a hard working musician, you just have to respect the guy.

It says Jeff Kawshiwa is the current sax player on the band roster link on the site.

the sax chair has been rotating between Jeff, PT & Eric - depending upon schedule.

This past February, Mindi played with the band in Florida.

So it really does depend upon the touring schedule. According to his schedule. Jeff is scheduled to be in Texas this weekend. Let us know if it's PT who plays and be sure to wave hello to him!

I'm kind of curious on which of the 3 - or combo thereof - Russ uses to record the new CD.....?

I know that Eric played last night in Temecula.... and quite honestly, I haven't been asking a lot of questions about the new CD... it would be nice to be surprised! I keep wanting to ask questions.... but I haven't. wink

I saw a thing on BET Jazz a couple of weekends ago with clips from the (I believe) Barbados Jazz Fest and Jeff was with him. The Rippingtons are becoming the "Steely Dan" of smooth jazz, however. I only recognized him, Russ and Kim. Lineup is more fluid than Niagara Falls.

Fluid????

Dave Karasony and Bill Heller have been in the band since 2000.

Scott Breadman played percussion until the 2006 Reunion Tour - Steve Reid returned. Last year, Russ decided to try and give it a go without percussion.

The sax chair has been shared by Jeff, Eric and PT - and again, that started with the 2006 Reunion Tour.

I've always looked at all Rippington's releases as "Russ Freeman Projects." The guy writes great music and always has solid support guys for the material.

Yeah, I didn't mean it in a bad way. I've been following The Rippingtons for 20 years and it's no secret that there have been numerous lineup changes. Things happen.

Kat,

Bill Lanphier was the original bassist, it says so on the Rippingtons' timeline.

Signed,

I realize that....Thanks Eric.

I just can't remember him touring.... because I never saw him. That's why I started my list in 1987... even though Moonlighting came out earlier.

But maybe someone from the early gigs remembers...

There were lots of people who recorded.... all along the way.

I was trying to pull together a list of the touring band.
