Hi Everyone - I'm a bass newbie and I'm trying to learn the Panama Cat by Acoustic Alchemy..and I'm having a few problems. Can anyone supply me with the notation...or give me some hints...it's really just the opening riff...it's making me go MAD because I'm sure it's pretty simple....but I just can't seem to get it...thanks

Hi newbass, well I think i'm the man to help you because I played that very riff! I had that in my head for ages before I used it. On the opening riff I used an Octaver pedal which is why it may be confusing you. It's quite simple and is in E minor which is a great key for bass as you'll know. It's all about the feel. You can contact me at www.myspace.com/frankfelixbass or at www.frank-felix.com and i'll be happy to send you the notation for that riff.
I have my own cd out now and if you like Panama Cat I think you'll like it. It's called Tales from the Funky Underground vol.1 by Frank Felix & The F.U. Express available from cd baby. Check it out. Hope this is of some use to you.
Keep up the practice.
FF.
