Seems that the Rippingtons signature cat icon is the jazz equivalent to Iron Maiden's Eddie. It's fun to see what the Jazz Cat will be up to whenever a new Ripps disc is announced. So, through all of the years we've had the Jazz Cat, which is your favorite cover?

Mine:
Tourist In Paradise
Topaz

I've got four that I can't make up my mind about:
Brave New World
Topaz
Life in the Tropics
Let It Ripp

For me it's Sahara --the way the Cat is woven into the Egyptian culture is cool.

Also, Moonlighting since it's where the Jazz Cat made it's debut.

I've often envisioned the wall of my office at work sporting two framed album posters -- and those would be the two....

Always have liked the Live in LA cover...Jazzcat with a hot momma, out on the town- Of course, it's probably my favorite Ripps cd of all time too, which I'm sure sways the vote for me.

Curves Ahead, Weekend in Monaco, and Black Diamond too...the artwork has always been a signature way to tell a new release.
Brave New World and Sahara are cool too....too many to choose from!

I can do both, but not at the same time. Wish i was a cat.

I'd rate Topaz as my favorite cover, followed by the Curves Ahead and Welcome to St. James Club covers.

They're all great covers but if I had to pick a least favorite, it'd be Kilimanjaro.

I think my favorite cover is the one with the worst case - Black Diamond... The cardboard is much more delicate & susceptable to damage than the traditional plastic jewel cases - But all the artwork is kewl regardless.

Geez, I was thinking the thread was about 'cover tunes', not cover art!

I like the cardboard CD cases -- the number of times I've dropped, stepped, crushed, or otherwise broken a CD case is staggering (mostly because I have kids and I also let the CD's pile up next to my CD player and sometimes they fall off) is annoying.

But, back to the Jazz Cat, Welcome to the St James Club is up there for me too. I didn't notice the Jazz Cat has a Mrs. Jazz Cat on the Live in LA concert I have. I wonder what her name is -- Myrtle? His name? Festus? Just kidding...it's been a long day.

Topaz, especially with the Ripps symbolized by the Kokopelli figures.

I thought the same thing as DWBass when I first read this topic.

So, in that tradition, here is my favorite Ripps "Cover".

Ignore the music that starts automatically, Scroll down to Mystery Song #5 -- and select it.

http://www.myspace.com/thecontemporaryjazzgroup

The tune was covered by a group of distinguished gentlemen who appreciate the Rippingtons. Perhaps you recognize which tune it is, even though the instrumentation is as basic as it gets...

I love 'em all. I have all of the available posters, triple matted and framed in my office at home. How can I post some pictures?

You have to upload the pics to a server like Flicker or Photobucket.

Then click the image icon above your post (4th from the left) and enter the URL (example: http://www.mumble.com/~mumble.jpg)
and submit your post.

It'll look like this:

Tony (our Admin) is working on a way to upload photos to the board for display, but it's been a little quirky and not ready for primetime yet.

Mine has got to be Life in the Tropics, I believe that's when Russ moved to Florida.

For me it would be Let it Ripp -- that Cd first got me started in Rippingtons music, and then I was happy to discover a whole whack of albums just as good or better that had been recorded prior to that one!
