Study involving fMRI enabled keyboards and such. The results probably won't surprise most of you. ;\)

I saw some program a year or so ago where they studied pitch speed, bat swing and ball trajectory to determine how outfielders track down fly balls. They had all these variables. But several najor-leaguers asked about the study just laughed. Basically, their opinion was it has to do with instincts, experience and the "crack of the bat."
I wonder if it's similar for the musicians.
BTW, Leslie, that's horrible what you did to that poor pup. I can't make up my mind whether he looks like Austin Bowsers or Doberman Trump.

Hey Leslie-
I like the avatar myself, offbeat but fun.

The article was interesting....I've always thought the best music was made when the mind just lets it flow, when the technical and intentional side of playing music becomes more from the heart.
I just didn't realize it was happening in a brain-dead state \:D

I'd be interested to see if the same holds true for other forms of the arts, like painting or sculpture or something; where the expression is set free from the rational thought process.

Although, as in music, I can't see it ever being totally separated from the control side of the brain, it'd have to have some memory and pattern repetition to it.

Was this found to be true in other forms of music?
