Hi There !!!
My name is Luis Sanchez. I'm a drummer from Cayey, Puerto Rico. On the CARNAVAL CD, Who is really the drummer on the Cachaca song??? For years I've been arguing with my friend Angel David Mattos (a key player) Because he says that Steve Jordan is the drummer in that song, but the sound and style it's Steve Gadd. I know already that the record says Jordan but it sound too much like Gadd. Let me know if you have an answer, if not ask Jay or Tom to be sure. Gracias adelantadas. Let's Play some Spyro tunes some day.
Vamo a Tocarrrrr Mulato.

According to the liner notes with my CD, your friend is correct. It's Steve Jordan.
And welcome to the board.

Hey welcome to the board. We have another member here, Moogman (Eril), who is from Puerto Rico and he knows all the members of Spyro Gyra personally. Eril is also a fine keyboardist. He can tell you everything you want to know about the band!

You're a drummer, too, Mark? Cool.
Who else among us plays? I know Bruce does, but does anybody else?

Hey Woody,

Yeah, I play the drums too! I started playing in high school, majored in percussion peformance my first two years of college, and still really enjoy playing to this day. I have a TAMA Superstar set with Zildjian cymbals that I bought in 1980 when I was in college. It still looks and sounds like brand new!

I haven't played regularly in a band for a long time, but I still practice about an hour a day whenever I'm home. I've learned a lot from listening to guys like Joel Rosenblatt and have really enjoyed expanding my playing ability to other musical styles. (I was mainly a traditional jazz player in college.)

Several years ago, Eril was visiting Atlanta and came over to my house (when we lived in Atlanta) and I got to jam with him! That was a lot of fun... Eril is an outstanding keyboard player!! \:\)

We have a lot of really good musicians on this board. Wouldn't it be neat if we could have a "Magic Island Band"? The logistics would probably be impossible since we live all over the place, but it would sure be cool! \:\)

Yeah, I agree. I'm gonna start a new topic in the musicians forum because I want your input.

A cyber project would be doable but I'm not sure if those who play drums have the capacity to record.

Great idea! Unfortunately, as you point out, I don't have the capacity (or experience) to properly record my drums. Since Bruce is an actual professional drummer, maybe he does...

Hi guys,
I've been following this forum since the beginning (I don't even remember when!), but it's my first time posting!
I'm a bass player. I used to listen to SG back in the years, but since Scott Ambush joined the band and recorded "Three Wishes", for me has been a must.
I'm actually having Scott building me a bass. It should be here in April... yeahright... with the schedule he has!
I have my website with some old pics and audio clips....one day I'll find the time to update it!
