"Turbulence” the 5th CD from Airborne, the multi-cultural contemporary jazz group from New Haven CT USA roars in like the wind and sea on a force of high energy contemporary jazz with a musical atmosphere that is intense and complex. Yet still it awakes a spirit of peaceful serenity and a beautiful jazz sound of island passion and urban emotion. Yes it soars and flies to make some wonderful music.

"Turbulence" has been released on Tilt Records. Hot rhythms softly cruise on a cool sea of music and soulful voices. Music that is sensitive, straight from the heart, and that echo's deep within the soul. In perfect tune with today’s smooth jazz and contemporary jazz radio formats.

The compositions of Airborne take you on a whirling musical journey packed with sincerity and flawless execution. They have a young musical spirit that cannot be tamed nor duplicated. Some have said that Airborne goes a long way in restoring their faith in music and in life. Heart felt compositions performed by amazing musicians.

Fans have claimed that the music of Airborne fills them with wonderful dreams and happiness. That it embraces them and really lifts them up. They can soar in the sky, dance in the sand or even sail on a sea of hope. But most love the feeling of global unity, friendship, and peace.

Awesome and Cool, Commercial and Non-Commercial, Smooth and Contemporary, all at the same time. The music of Airborne reaches out to everyone in our crazy old world.

A word of note on the Airborne CD "Turbulence". Our world is overwhelming filled With physical, emotional, political, and economical distress, disaster, and confusion. Let this wonderful music of Airborne Jazz open your heart, mind, and soul to all the beauty that life has to offer. We can all make a difference in this world of need. If we try to help, support, and mostly understand. Only then can we find and achieve peace.

These guys just totally put me to sleep. They sound like a hybrid of everything generic about lite smooth jazz. Background music for wine tastings and there is a place for that but its not my thing. Sorry but I don't get it at all.

Did they send you their album for a positive review, Shannon?

Their PR spammed the board thru private messages.

Considering that I actually live in Connecticut, grew up in New Haven and knew these guys from a former life in local band land..... I dunno what to say.... we can't stop PMs, but advertising is not permitted on the board....

Technically - this thread should be deleted or locked.... I missed it because I was away last week....

OK-
number one, I don't like the board being slammed. If one of our members wants to tell us about a new cd, fine...even a newbie, so long as they make an attempt to join in with us. But this stinks. It's like spam on the bbs.
Do as you please, Kat, I understand.

number two, before I posted, I took the time to listen to the new cd samples. They actually are ok, it's as good as some in this genre, but certainly not stellar. Sounded too generic to me.
And the quality of the mix and performances made them sound like a local or regional band, not a ready for prime time national band.
The starting post sounds like a combination of several of the reviews on their website. Sandy Shore seemed to like it, and several others....but it just doesn't do it for me.
New and different, well, not to me; sounded more like recycled Fattburger with vocals added. I liked Fattburger ok, but I think they wore thin after a couple cd's.

My 2 cents anyway....

TY

I'm going to close it, not delete it.
