I was a bit dissapointed when GRP seemed to drop AA after Nick passed away. I don't think I've purchased a GRP release since then.... Here is a very nice link over there when that CD was released... I hadn't seen this before - it's a very nice read and nice tribute to Nick.

Thanks, Don
Yes, this is a great article - very sad. This was posted on the old board some time ago (might have even posted it myself - can't recall). I can't listen to that CD (and especially the title cut) without feeling a little down. I was a huge Nick Webb fan and was absolutely shocked when I noticed an article about his death in the Washington Post. I keep it in the inside cover of my copy of the CD.
I'm not "positive," but I believe that was the first CD that Miles played on. I saw Greg and John Parsons play about four months later at a jazz festival here and spoke with Greg.
And in a weird coincidence (I've mentioned this before on the old board - forgive me for repeating), some years later I was writing a eulogy for my father and Positive Thinking began playing on the (internet) radio station I had on. I was blown away.
And in another weird coincidence (and this has happened to me before during other replies) - as I am typing this reply, I hear Miles's voice doing a little promo for SmoothJazz.com and "Mr. Chow" starts playing! How cool is that?
Best
Bob

Bob:

I'm sorry to hear about your father...

It is amazing how there seems to be a vortex of some elements in experience.

If you're in the CD area did you attend the Birchmere show of the first post Nick tour with Miles up front? It was September 2000 as I recall. I got to express my gratitude to Kay Webb that night thanks to generous introduction from Stewart.

They talked about that a little bit during their Smoothviews interview:

Don,
Yes - I was there that night in 2000 in the front row, as usual. I would have loved to have met Kay. I don't think I had introduced myself to Stewart at that point.
And I was there last year and had the opportunity to meet Mary in person (whom I had met on the board) and speak with Stewart at length about the status of the soon-to-be-(re)released BKS DVD. We thought then that it would be out by last X-mas. Mary did that great interview with Greg and Miles for SmoothViews (posted above) that night.
I also met Bonnie (Mary's partner in crime), Kat, and Carol last year @ the Birchmere. It was the last stop on the U.S. tour - waht a great night
Hey Mary - waht ever happened to Snakette?? She used to post quite often. Haven't heard from her for quite some time.

I think you may be right.... ;\) When I worked on Miles' bio, he corrected a couple of factoids which referred to various dates, so I believe that the info about Positive Thinking is probably correct. I'll double check.... and get back to you.

My 2 favorite photos of Miles are in there...

the one with his Gibson Les Paul on the biography page, and the one with GG in the background - in which Miles is laughing away (check the bottom of the home page or in the photo gallery).
