Monk always believed that if the music was groovin', you should be able to dance to it, and that's what he would do when he's playing, and sometimes he'd get up and dance around the stage.

You're welcome Markus. There are clips of Monk in concert when he leaves the piano and dance around on stage, and the rhythm section's swingin, and he'd come back to the piano in time for his solo or ending a tune.

Although bebop was intricate and textured, you could still dance to it. When Dizzy wrote Salt Peanuts, people noticed that they could dance to this thought provoking music, and the man that got them hip on that was Billy Eckstine. Billy had an all-star lineup in his band with:
Dizzy
Art Blakey
Charlie Parker
Dexter Gordon
Charles Mingus
John Malachi
Gene Ammons
Sarah Vaughn
Shadow Wilson
Lester Young
Dizzy learned a lot from Mr. B.

I attended ELP in the Philipshalle in Düsseldorf in the early seventies. They are a phenomenon. All three are stellar musicians and speed wizzards. Kings of music history like Supertramp, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, EWF, Pat Metheny..

Dinosaur, that would be me. I saw ELP in 1971 at the Fillmore East in NYC. It was a spectacularly dynamic show. They played a yet unreleased (at that time) Tarkus, which did it for me I was hooked.

ELP. Just one of the innovative groups of prog rock/neo-classical music. I've always enjoyed Watching and listening to Carl Palmer when I was in High school and later in college when I began studying percussion.
