David:

This is really neat. I enjoyed the song. I am listening to it for the second time as I type this.

I vote for your song becoming the offical Magic Island theme song. They should have it come on every time someone enters the BB.

Perhaps you could get the Rippingtons to record a cover of it for the board.

Anyway, well done! My attmepts at writing music generally don't get any further than about 6 measures. And by the way, I can picture you doing this song live in concert, with an extended bass guitar jam right in the middle....................

I'm glad that you like the tune. Credit my buddie Rick Schwartz for the great synth solo. Plans are in the works to record this live as this is just a midi reference. Thanks again!

Hey Dave!!!!
Just got a chance to listen to your midi file- excellent! Nice subdued bass line, great percussion, overall a very clean and almost acoustic feel. Nicely produced also! I'm impressed, dude! Now all we have to do is get the Count and JP involved on keys, maybe bring Tony Morales in for the drums, Steve Reid for the percs, Jeff Kashiwa for a sax lead, and you've got a radio ready single!!! My only critique is it seems to end a little oddly, but that's just me... you know I have to find something to pick on.
Very nice work Dave-

Well when I record it live I will, of course, add a fade to it. All my midi references end like that because I don't feel like taking the time to go to each track and do volume changes. It's very time consuming. By the way, I was trying to e-mail you the tune directly but it was returned to me saying that the e-mail address could not be found. Send me your new or corrected addy, if you can dude!

Hey Dave, will do- my ISP got hit by the last two viruses, so they may have been shut down when you tried it- I will email it to you just to be sure.
Yes, I have that fade out issue in Cakewalk too.....I'm sure there's an easier way, but I haven't toyed with it in months- maybe it's time, you inspired me!
Hope your move went well also, are you settled in OK?
Take care
Tony Y

That was quite nice, you're very talented it's a great song, it's infectious. It's bouncy, yet mellow at the same time, it relaxed me and put a smile on my face. I can definitely hear the Ripps doing that song, but they absolutely need to have you sitting in as a "featured guest". What is your instrument of choice or the one you're most comfortable on,is it the bass? I know is a midi file and I know I've read other posts by you, but for the life of me, I can't remember what you play. Thanks again for "Magic Island", it's wonderful and it'll echo in my mind when I get near water.

I am primarily a bassist. I do however, play keyboards but only on my own recordings. I have played keyboards in bands but prefer to play bass. It's very hard (for me) to remember chordings to 20+ tunes playing live gigs! I do thank you very much for the compliment.

Peace
