Watched Get Smart. Wow!
Excellent movie.
Steve Carrell was perfectly cast to reprise the Don Adams role. He and Anne Hathaway play off each other well.
Fans of the TV series will appreciate Max saying "Missed it by that much," and wanting to use the Cone of Silence. Also, if you're not focused, you might miss the reference to "Not Craw, Claw."
It was funny in all the right places. And was a fairly good action movie.
My favorite part? The big dance number. That's all I'm gonna say about that.

Hey Woody- wife is on a mini vacation (taking our daughter college shopping for a few days)- we cancelled one campus tour, and ended up going to the matinee showing of Get Smart. I thought it was very well done, I'd definitely watch it again. The interplay between Maxwell and 99 was excellent, and like you said, the big dance number...huge \:D I loved it.
Also all the references to the old tv show, the Sunbeam Tiger in the foyer, etc. I don't remember Max being highly overwieght in the beginning, but that just added to the character development.
From an action movie standpoint, it was good too- lots of explosions, fight scenes, etc.
The "dusty uterus" was a crack up also....

Another favorite scene was the stapling stuff....that was great. And of course, Himey.

Oh, yeah.
Umm, I couldn't help but notice your use of the word "huge".
And how about the overpower scene during Max's escape? "You're supposed to fall the other way."
The only thing missing was Max saying: "I told you not to tell me that."

Yes, that was intentional...huge. \:D I thought Steve Carrel was going to burst a vein!

Had yesterday and last night to myself- since none of the all night excort services are free, I decided to have a 6 pack and a 24 marathon, went to Blockbuster and rented a couple from season 6 to fill in the gaps; I rarely got to watch it this year, and after the first show or two I was left feeling less than interested in the season.
The episodes I watched last night (midnight to 4 am) answered some questions in my mind- I had bought the last two hours off of iTunes, so I knew the ending anyway.

Also, speaking of Fox tv shows, have any of you been watching the Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles?
I've gotten hooked- for a while, iTunes was letting you download the pilot for free, and that sucked me in. I bought the remaining 8 episodes (short season due to writer's strike I guess.) I'd by one just to see if it was any good, and then that leaves you hanging, so you have to get the next one, etc...

I find this to be a very well done show, good character building, great effects, etc. You have to love the disarming honesty and charm of Cameron, the machine that protects John Conner...she's really an exploration into how humans react and interact, and she's learning as she goes. Great emotionless face, that must be hard to do. Sarah (the mom) is one heck of a warrior herself. Lots of action and suspense, overall well written.

Good stuff, in my book. Looking forward to the new season.

I was kind of curious before it debuted, but something happened with my attention span, and I ended up missing the first several episodes. Then the strike came, and it seems there was nothing to watch but news and sports for the longest. By the time things got going again, I had completely forgotten about Sarah.

I saw Get Smart, too, and loved it. I really liked the cameo by Bernie Kopel. And I think I was the only one in the theater who got it when Smart gave his name to the CHAOS people as Nudnik Schpilkes. (For those who don't know, it's Yiddish. Nudnik is a pest or P.I.T and Schpilkes are like ants in your pants).

Alan Arkin was terrific as the Chief, too. All around very good movie. And yes, the dusty uterus was a hoot.

KAOS, Bonnie, KAOS. I used to think CONTROL was an acronym for something, like U.N.C.L.E. (as in "The Man from ..."), but Mel Brooks and Buck Henry never came up with one. I see they did use one in the movie, but can't remember what it was. I was so used to seeing K-A-O-S in the TV show, that I used to think C-H-A-O-S was pronounced "cha-ose."
Oh, and did you notice on one of the documents early in the movie, were the words "Claw: Not Craw"?
Sweet.

HAHA! You got me Woody. I am so used to spell check! yes, I did see that on the document. I think one of my favorite scenes was at the reflecting pool in DC when he walked on water and punched the code into the duck!
