Hi Paul,

I just wanted to say that I saw you in concert in NYC. You are truly an OUTSTANDING saxophonist!!! I too play the saxophone. I was wondering what kind of saxophone you play? Mouthpiece? I would appreciate any info!
Thanks,

Dear Paul,

I want to thank you for giving me the specs on your equipment. I am in currently searching to buy a professional Soprano. I currently play a Selmer Paris 80 SuperAction Series II Alto Sax. I use a Beechler #5S5 mourthpiece. On Soprano, I use the same Dukoff mouthpiece as you, I think, a #8*. But I currently play a Winston Horn. Believe it or not, I was looking into buying a Yamaha soprano. However, they just changed their professional model: it now has the removable neck that can take a curved or straight neck. I don't know if I should go for the used model you play or go for the new one. Do you have any advice????
Thanks,
BBW
P.S. I hope that they will soon feature you in WINDPLAYER. I am certain that all saxophone players could learn allot from you!

Hi Mandi,
Thank you for asking about my equipment and experience. I answered your question regarding my equipment in the post that where I replied to Paul. As for experience, I have been playing for about 7 years. I have had the honor of being taught by excellent teachers, as well as, having a good ear. You are right, Paul has a unique sound and he is very gifted. Listening to his music and trying to imitate some of his riffs has helped me allot! Someday I hope to have the honor of meeting Paul, or perhaps even jamming with him. I have read the back of his album covers and have listened to his music extensively. I can tell from his music, and his remarks, that he is a very deep and spiritual man with depth of feeling. He expresses himself well through his horns.
Mandi, how long have you been playing? What kind of saxophone do you play??

hi Wrightsax!
this is great, finally, someone else who plays sax ,for about the same amount of time as myself and who also sounds serious!
i;ve been playig 6 yrs.i have a mark vi 175000 series and play on a selmer c* mouthpeice.
i have taken private lessons the whole time.never had band in school or music before except for 1 year of piano at age 9.
not a very good thing but im trying to make up for lost time now.
very interested in adding soprano and maybe tenor[so big] though.
can you tell me about the traits of both your mouthpeices?
i'm looking into changing.are all Dukoufs metal?
later, Mandi

Saxymandi, If you really want an excellent site for information of all sorts on saxophones, I'd recommend heading over to the sax on the web forum: http://boards.eesite.com/board.cgi?boardset=saxweb

They've got some really good players there who can answer all your sax questions.

Paul, I hope you don't mind if I post your setup to the Sax on the Web forum. They're compiling a list of player setups. I love your sound so much, and I'm sure other people would be interested in knowing you get that sound also. A big fan,

Scott

Hi Saxymandi,
Yes, it it is good to hear that you are doing so well. As for the mouthpieces: tenorman directed you to a website. The Beechler mouthpiece I use is plastic. The Bobby Doukoffs mouthpieces are, I believe, all metal. You will notice a difference in your sound when you try different mouthpieces. I hope you do pursue the soprano: I am partial to its sound.
Take care,
Wrightsax
