Hello from Long Beach! I wanted to let all of you know that you
don't want to miss PT at the Long Beach Museum of Art on
Thurs 8/15. It is a wonderful outdoor venue overlooking the
ocean. Go to http://www.lbma.org/concertpage.html PT with
Phil Perry will be the season finale. I had the pleasure of seeing
WAR at this venue last week and you can dance in the aisles &
on the sides. They even allowed about 20 women up on stage
for their grand finale! Can you imagine 20 women all up on
stage for "Deeper" with PT!! \:\) We may set a new record!! Do
you think PT could serenade 20 women all at once? ;\) They
have delicious italian food & all the seats are separtated enough
that you can easily walk down the rows without triping over
everyone. Seats start as low as $27.50 up to $75 for the
front rows which includes the dinner buffet with an ocean view.
You don't want to miss this event!! Hope to see you all there!
I will be in row 4 on the center aisle, seat lucky 13! \:\)

Hey Pam,
You can bet that I will be dancing in the aisles & up on stage for Deeper w/PT!! \:D
I have no doubt that he can serenade several women at once....he had several up
on stage for Deeper in Newporter Beach, CA, last Fri night! There was no room
for 20 on that small stage, but they took turns during Deeper. I was up on stage
from the beginning of the song and not about to give up my prime, up close view
of PT making his magic ;\) On 8/15, I will be doing lots of shouting, howling, and
applauding, especially if he plays Free Fall (my favorite)! I would be happy to give
a few extra shouts for you too \:\) Were you at Jazz For The Heart in DC in April?
Thanks for the warm welcome

Hey Mandi,
Happy belated Birthday to you, sorry I missed the opportunity to greet you on your birthdate. I'm glad to read you had a great time, and the fun didn't stop that's great. I wish you many more birthdays to come. Sooooooooooo, we're July babies \:D A three day birthday, is alright, that'll work.
I know the shopping thing is a drag. I don't care much for going clothes shopping any way, but I love shoe shopping.

Hey Smoothjazzfan,
Yes, I was at the jazz for the heart, ready for this, and was on stage too \:D doing the "Deeper" dance with Paul, Ok, \:D \:\) \:D That's how I was looking after the dance for about a month until my next PT fix came in june at the capital jazz fest.
Yes, you're right once you experience the "Deeper" dance you're transformed. Paul's sax take you to another level out of this world, I think you said it well "heaven" you're in heaven. The thought of one giving up their spot on stage during the "deeper" tune is blasphemy, never, never, never you stay until the "Deeper" tune is done, ladies  , got to run and thanks for shouting for me too. Have fun, at the concert. talk to you.

hey smoothjazz fan! welcome! \:\)
hope there's enough room to squeeze me in too on the "deeper" experience, cause i'll be there!
it's been a while since i've joined in on the fun.
hopefully i don't get bashful \:o

first time at this venue, and also heard a venue worth checking out. not sure who i'm bringing along yet. my niece will be celebrating her 13th birthday on that date. if only i can coax her to come. i got tickets for her and my nephew for the pasadena jazz fest but they missed that one away on camp. trying to expose the young ones to some jazz worth hearing and seeing ya know! and i know paul can give em some nice memories. who ever i bring is in for a treat! \:D

hope to see ya there!

hey mandi,
i thought i had your birthday written down!
sounds like you were nicely pampered on your special day. happy belated and many, many more...

FYI: 'smoothjazzfan' has changed user names to 'jazzylady'
to keep peace in the BB family....sorry 'smjzzfn' for any
confusion this may have caused.

Hey Pam,
I was on stage for Deeper at Jazz For The Heart too. Were
you wearing a pink blouse? If so, I have 3 photos of you
on stage. I will try to get them scanned soon & post them
for you. We both had what I call the "perma-grin" after that
Deeper experience with Paul \:D

Hey Chandra,
Don't be shy about going on stage. It is lots of fun & like
Pam said, you will not be able to stop smilin' for days!! I'll
be in row 4 on the center aisle right side, so come meet me
and we can go up together.

Hey PT,
Thanks for your reply. I'm happy to share location info with
your fans because I have used the BB to find info in the past.
Can't wait for 8/15 and what is sure to be another awesome
show! \:D Please play Free Fall and Deeper for us. Thanks!

Hey Jazzylady,
I have to go back and see what I was wearing, I don't remember. You have to remember I walked away that day with the perma-grin (I like that word, that's cute), so I have no idea what I was wearing. But if you were on stage I have pictures of you too. Now, I will have to go back and look at my pictures all that I have not wall paper yet. \:D
I had fun up there, it was great. Paul, was awesome. Welcome, to the island Jazzlady. Talk to you soon \:\) Pam

hey jazzylady,
i'll be in row 6, left side of stage.
still not sure who will fill the second seat. well, it's the initial getting me on stage that usually requires a little push or some persuading, but i really want to.

but pam, jazzlady you're so right, once you're actually up there with paul, you forget everything else and the fun is on! it's something about that saxophone that draws you right on in. especially being right there in the midst. it's so easy for us to talk about it, but it's something the ladies have to experience at least once. you're guaranteed to walk away like this \:D . it's apart of the show that i laugh the most. the whole experience is therapeutic and hey, it's not everyday i get serenaded. i think i just talked myself into this!

"Freefall", one of my favorites too!

Hey Chandra,
We'll be sitting close to each other (if we can manage to stay in our seats when
everyone is dancin' in the aisles!) I would be happy to give you that little push \:\)
The left side is actually closer to the steps which are on the left side of the stage,
so you don't have to walk as far to get on stage. Glad you talked yourself into it!
If you don't get up the nerve to go up for Deeper, pick any song you like....one
lady at the Newporter show went up by herself for Pleasure Seeker. You take your
pick & go girl!! Free Fall maybe? I have no doubt that PT will welcome you on stage
anytime for a serenade. He takes special care of his BB friends...we read evidence
of that all the time. Don't be shy...have fun & you know PT will have fun too! \:\)

See you a week from tonight!
JazzyLady

hey jazzylady!
i had a taker for the long beach show who has been dying to see paul perform. then my niece calls me up and say's "auntie, i would looove to go to the jazz concert!" coming from a 12 year old that lives "hip hop" is a big shock and a big step. i really want to know her reaction when she finds out how "hip" paul is with jazz. she'll be celebrating her 13th birthday at the show and she loves to dance and is not ashamed. so we may all be dancing in the aisles. i feel terrible that i have to break the news to my friend tommorrow \:\( . she did say if my niece really wanted to go it was ok, but i know deep down she really wanted to come. she loves paul taylor and whenever i go by her desk, his music is on. paul only has two shows left this year. i feel like i'm in a tug of war! i have to figure out something.

Your niece should like the show. Paul's music will serve as a good introduction to this genre of music.

Hey Mandi,
Me too, I'm excited for them I can't wait to hear about the show. How's the practice going? I will attend my last piano lesson this coming monday. It was a six week b-b-b-beginners lessons, and it was fun. I learned a lot in six weeks. Now, I still can't play like Ramsey Lewis, Jeff Lober, Elton John, nor Keiko Matsui. I do hear a little of Thelonious Monk, or Eubie Blake sometime when I play \:D , nah, just messin' I respect their work to the upmost. I would like to take the next session but I have class this fall and I will take this time to practice on my own and develope what I have learned, at my own pace.

Hey Ars,
I take it you didn't make the ripps. show out at Dupont park either, huh? I really wanted to go and see them that night. Did you get to watch the Red Skins? If possible, please, put your acidplanet address up again? I want to see if I can tune in to it. Thank you Talk to you Pam \:\)

Pam,

I didn't attend that show since I had recently seen them perform. I'm a bigger football fan. You can check out my stuff at

http://www.acidplanet.com/Lounge/ArtistDetail.asp?ArtistID=64602

It's a little rough around the edges. I am still experimenting and developing my sound.

hey everyone!
what a night, what a night! and what venue!
it started off with the time moving too fast and everyone else moving too slow, but ended with another sweet memory.

picked up my niece and arrived a little late to the show. luckily the show was running a little late too. my niece was worried she would miss paul's performance. as i drove around the bend of a beautiful scenic and picturesque view of the pacifc ocean we hear jazz music hundreds of feet above us. i slow down and we look up and there was paul facing the back of the stage looking towards us as if to say "come on!" freefall was playing (my favorite song). but that was just a coincidence.

we rush out the car and walk what seemed to be endless steps to the venue. my legs were throbbing and i was happy to reach the top. \:\)
what an amazing and breathtaking view from above. as we go through the gardens of the long beach museum we run right into my dear friend, mr. phil perry. we embrace and chat a moment and i introduce my niece. immediately phil perry indulges her with an enchating birthday song. she couldn't hold back her smile to prevent her new flourescent braces from showing. she blushed much!
thanks phil!

we rush off again to our seats, many people are standing around enjoying the music, many seated. we had a nice view from the stage about 7 rows back. it was a beautiful evening. nice weather with a touch of breeze. then a nice lady comes over and says "are you chandra?". it was jazzylady! she held her hand out to shake mine, i hugged her instead. she was beautiful and we chatted alot. i had brought along my camera but forgotten my film (duh). jazzylady had an extra black and white roll that she offered to me. thanks jazzylady! jazzylady insisted that we go up to front stage on "deeper". i was nervous.

paul was naturally awesome. the audience took him in well. i enjoyed every groove and those familiar sounds we hear on his great cds. there's just nothing like hearing and seeing it live. my niece loved the hypnotic tunes. i had to excuse myself a few times to get my niece food from the buffet. phil perry was awesome too. he amazes me each time i hear that incredible voice. the duo was awesome, the band jammed.

deeper was supposed to be played during the first set of songs but was extended to the second set.
then the intro to deeper plays and i knew it was time to make a nervous move. i looked up and jazzylady was already waiting at the side stage.
i expected more ladies to come forward. i knew if i didn't get up then, i wouldn't at all.
there we were on stage with paul in the middle and jazzylady and i on opposite sides. need i say more than wow!

i forgot all about all who were watching out there and jazzylady and i were doing our thing. we did the bump with paul down to the ground as he played. the serenading went back and forth to each of us. paul was singing the chorus "i can go deeper, deeper". it was one to behold and you wished it never ended. but all good things must come to an end. what an ending! \:\) i can still hear paul telling me "alright chandra!". not only did we enjoy it, but many compliments came from the guys on us 2 ladies. so, they got a treat too!

i loved "exotica" and the remainder of the show. paul and phil came out with an encore performance.
i got a few photos and hopefully they came out.
jazzylady was the photographer of the day and took loads of pictures i can't wait to see.
after the show jazzylady my niece and i met up with paul took more photos and chatted with him. my niece was very shy meeting paul. i gave her paul's "on the horn cd" and he autographed it for her. by the end of the night she was tired and ready to go. paul was so cordial and patiently took picutures with everyone. he stood around taking pics and signed autograhs until there wasn't one last fan around and until we all ran out of film.

on the way out, i ran into some of the band. it was nice seeing them again and charles (keyboardist) had me laughing once again. i couldn't hang around much longer it was getting late and had to get my niece back home.

jazzylady, what a pleasure meeting you. we had a great time and yes, we'll definately keep in touch. thanks so much for the film and the extra photos you took. you were too kind. jazzylady is so sweet everyone. it is so refreshing meeting people that enjoy the jazz and paul's music the way i do. encourage me on the next deeper experience and i just may go again! (thanks for the encouragement too paul!) i'll see ya at the next show!

paul, thanks for a great evening and hanging around with us, taking photos, etc. you didn't have to do all the extras, but you did. i spoke to my niece today and asked more on her thoughts of the show. i knew she would feel more of something the day after. she told me to tell everyone that it was a cool experience, the best music. that it was different than concerts she usually attends and would definately go again. she said the experience made her want to get into jazz more, that she wants to bring one of her girlfriends. (alright, we've accomplished something!). she was also surprised with phil perry's song to her. now she wants the "hypnotic" cd!

pam, you're up next!

hugs!

Hey Chandra,
I thought about you guys that night too, I said I was there in spirit with you, and I was. I told JazzyLady, I was driving down the beltway with my PT tape blaring in the car (No, cd yet in car. Those 18 wheelers pasting stifle the sound) going I know they are living it up tonight, just about now. I was so with you guys. \:D

Sound like you guys had a ball too, and your niece will never forget that night and she was the envy of many women to be serenade by Phil P, you go girl ! Chandra, on stage with the deeper dance. Alright!!!! Chandra. Yes, I know what you mean about getting the nerve to go up, but Paul as you say put you so at ease once you're up there with him and others you just start groovin' cause that's what the tune make you do any way, just groove and to hear it live on stage up close it's so sweet the sound that PT make coming out of his sax. It's so awesome. As close as I can get to live is a Bose, I LOVE IT !!!! Ain't nothing like the real thing, Baby.

Oh, yes I agree, you're so right Chandra, JazzyLady is a real sweetie pie. Very nice lady. It's funny how PT bring us together. Music is key. As much madness in the world today, PT have the power to bring people of peace, love, and harmony together. Check out how we just keep coming together in music peace and forming friendships we never thought to have with people from all over the states, just awesome "Hypnotic", or what? The man got talent and he is gifted in more ways than one. \:D
Stay tune for the Big Apple update A Cruise on the harbor with PT. Talk to you later Cruisers Pam \:\)
