it could the climate. it could be that you're playing it a lot, so some pads are going to wear out on you. welcome to the club. it's going to happen. you take it to be fixed and soon a different set of pads fail.
i get my horns overhauled every few years (they take them all apart and replace all pads, clean, fix, etc..), but i still have to take 'em in for minor leaks, too. the overhaul's guarantee should cover those minor pad repairs for awhile, saving you $.
i would play the horn you like best, life is too short, haha. keep the 1st one 'undercover' until the good one is in the shop again. hope this helps.
