The PMG's "Imaginary Day" has been nominated for a Grammy in three different categories, contemporary jazz, rock and pop.

Could this release possibly win three Grammy's?

Good question Phil!

With the Grammies, you never know. I think PMG can definitely do it and win in all three catagories. Some have derided this and other bands wide appeal. To be nominated in three pretty disparate catagories is a win in itself!! It brings me back to the year when Jethro Tull was nominated for best hard rock or heavy metal album back when "Crest of a Knave" came out! Very, very few people consider Jethro Tull heavy metal, or PMG rock, but while some think it a negative, I believe it is positive when a band has enough talent to cross over aand appeal to audiences other than where it's main apeeal lies.

As I've heard you say, PMG is generally one of the most respected contemporary groups in jazz...that has to help the groups chances.
Paul.

Man, I wasn't aware of the nominations. That alone is quite an achievement! I always like seeing Contemp. Jazz recognized....

Good luck Pat, Lyle, and co....

Well the news is out and the PMG won in two of the three categories nominated.

"Imaginary Day" won as the "Best Contemporary Jazz Performance" and the "Imaginary Day" song "Roots of Coincidence" won as the "Best Rock Instrumental Performance."

Way to go PMG!
