Does anyone have an opinion on Doc Powell's new release? I had listened to sound samples of it on the net and yesterday I was listening to samples at Barnes & Nobles, but I'm just not "hearing" it. And normally, I'm a Doc Powell fan.

It didn't do much for me either..but I kinda wrote that off the the fact that like the Lorber CD it has an old school vibe that some people adore and I don't enjoy at all. It has a lot of playing but no real songs on it...except Sun Goddess, which is pretty good but of course mellower than the original.

There just seemed to be this kind of "plainess" to it. While I was at the record store the other day, I decided to listen to samples of his previous album Life Changes to compare, and LC had those catchy melodic hooks in it's songs. However, 97th just doesn't seem to have that melodic groove to it.
