Let's try a different approach. I'm sure I'm not the only person this happens to. List the most disappointing cd's you've purchased this year that you had really high expectations for. Maybe include a brief reason why you feel this way. This is not in anyway intended to insult any of the artists since we all have different opinions and tastes. Should make for interesting discussion. Hopefully no one's offended, not the intention. Here goes.

Boney James "Body Language" (Nothing like his "Camoulflage," more like Boys to Men.
Richard Elliot "Jumpin' Off" (see comment on previous item)
Paul Taylor "Pleasure Seeker" (Major disappointment, nothing like his "On The Horn")

May add more later.

Here's my list of busts>

Slim Man...as a bassist, I thought he may have had something to offer....not!!
'Lifestyles' by Greg Osby...a nice sax player but I can't stand that hip hop/jazz mix!
'Niacin' organ, bass, drum trio....more of a rock thing than a jazz thing!
I really don't have that many busts but when I pick up another one I will post then. This is a good thread. I want to see what other busts are out there.

OK..I didn't purchase them (Except for 1) but getting them in the mail and not finding anything worthy of more than sporadic airplay by core image artists is extremely frustrating:
Richard Elliot: Chill Factor (the title shoulda warned me..this guy used to kick!)
Norman Brown: Celebration (Paul Brown produced so at least I had no expectations)
Bamboo Forest: Passion In Paradise (I was warned..at least the last few songs on the CD showed signs of life and I still have the first 3 on A rotation at the house and on the air..)
there was also one that was much better than I expected so to give props where due..
Chuck Loeb: Listen this is a very nice piece of work!

I also bought Chuck Loeb's "Listen" Slammin' cd!

I love that remake of 'Geraldine' and Michael Jackson's 'Rock with you' among all the other hot tracks. I e-mailed Chuck and asked him if another 'Metro' cd was in the works and he confirmed it!! Woo Hoo!
Wait until you hear that one!
