Cabbage, this is what DTTB played:

1. cooking with gas (crazy vibes)
2. I softly surrender (crazy vibes)
3. urban jazz (urban grooves)
4. fusion food (urban grooves)
5. music is my drug (crazy vibes)
6. electra glide (crazy vibes)
7. staten island groove (manhattan to staten)
8. brooklyn heights (manhattan to staten)
9. on a roll (crazy vibes)

It took me a while to recognize Mitch Forman, because he was turned sideways and I couldn't really see him. His trademark hammond sound hit me between the eyes during electra glide.

Allan Hinds did a really cool solo during fusion food.

All in all, I would like to see DTTB again soon.

Hmm.... Many of the bands that we talk about on this board don't have most of their original members... the Ripps and Spyro Gyra are 2 that come to mind.

But in this case, DTTB was intended as a production group, they evolved into a touring band vs the studio production group. (read the liner notes for Album II, The Urban Grooves, for more info on this). Shilts mentioned this during the show, that the members of the studio group can't always travel to play (other obligations, work visas, etc).

Adrian Revell has been around from the beginning as has been Gota Yashiki on drums. I hope someday to hear and see Gota, but he doesn't seem to come to the US.

DTTB has not had a record label since this past January and Stuart Wade is shopping for a contract. They have left Verve. They have a CD ready, and are ready to release it. Perhaps as David Mann mentioned during his show ;\) , it will be on MOFL.com

Mary or Kat,
Did either of you speak to Stuart Wade? Seemed to be a very personable guy.

P.S. Donna, it may be costly to bring the entire band unless they have more than a couple of gigs. They did to the same at Catalina (Shilts and Neil Angilley on keys were there).

No, didn't get a chance to speak to him. Wish I could have though. Maybe when they come to America's Jazz Fest on 5/31 + 6/1. I hope they bring the whole band. Will you be coming up for that this year Cabbage?

Oh! And BTW, will you keep me posted about who's coming to Brown's Island this year?

I'm still on the fence about AJ Fest, but DTTB will be in Richmond on Friday, May 30th at Kanawha Plaza (near Brown's Island) for a mere 10 spot. Come on down!

Cabbage/Mary....

it was Shilts and Adrian this time out.

My biggest disappointment from Berks was accidentally deleting a great picture of them.

Hopefully, for that 3 day weekend tour at the end of may, they will be joined by Stuart or Neil. If you hear that Gota will be there, PUH-LEEZE let me know....

I am planning to go to NYC, June 03 for the CD101 Jazz Cruise to catch them next. In the meantime, I will see what I can do about the May weekend. Logistics are going to be tough on me, I am planning to go see The Ripps kick off their tour in Boston. And in June, I'm moving to a new condo, so I'm going to be a busy girl.....
