HELLO donna.
ive been on a mad mezzoforte listen session.
for christmas i got
Forward Motion by Mezzoforte and Obon by Hiroshima
so, this christmas i had Iclandic Jazz and Japanese Jazz. try to explain that to my girlfriend's brother who likes eminem.
ive not noticed any talk of Mezzoforte on here but you guys should REALLY check them out. the new album is looking to be excellent. maybe not quite as funked up as older stuff but definately not smooth as some of the stuff out these days.

You fear jazz. You fear the lack of rules, the lack of boundaries. Oh look, it's a fence. But, no, it's soft."

Brian Auger's Oblivion Express - Looking In The Eye Of The World .....I noticed Katisse Buckingham (DTTB) played on this one, so I picked it up. Speaking of Katisse - He filled in for Bob Mintzer on a few Yellowjackets European dates and a couple of fans on the YJ Board complained they were not told about the change. Mintzer defended his fine sub. I'm also looking at/listening to the Brian Auger DVD recorded at the Baked Potato back in July....dwill123, this is some nice B3in. Pretty cool, after midnight Auger turned 66 and the whole place sang Happy Birthday....Herbie Hanc-o-c-k was in attendance. dwill123 - I'll definitely catch him if he comes within a hundred miles of here. I just received my 2-CD copy of the "Parallel Realities-Live" release featuring Jack DeJohnette on drums, Pat Metheny on guitar, Herbie Hanc-ock on piano and keyboards and Dave Holland on acoustic bass. It was recorded at the 1990 Mellon Jazz Festival in Philadelphia and I was absolutely floored by the music.
I already had the DVD, however, the 2-CD set gives a lot more of the music played at this once-in-a-lifetime music event.
HIghly recommended.

Well, we got a treadmill for ourselves for Christmas, so I've been firing up the music library to listen to, while doing that for a half hour. Which brings up a question, what are your favorite bands for exercising to? Today, I dug up one I haven't heard in a while (because the cd was misplaced, for one thing...) Eric Marienthal's Sweet Talk. This is a great one, lots of variety. Definitely has a Jeff Lorber groove to it. Next was Fourplay's Heartfelt. There's more going on in this than I'd remembered....Harvey Mason has all sorts of groove going on in the background, and Nathan East is a monster bassist. I guess since I haven't really listened to it loud until today, I was missing some of that. yeah, that's a total of way more than 30 minutes, but I had the remote... so it was more selected cuts, bypassing the slower tunes...I have to stay in the uptempo stuff to keep the energy going.
