Dave, if you like Two Siberians, you might be interested in Rez Abassi's "Snake Charmer." It's like fusion meets the Middle East.

One of these days, I'm gonna have to check out DTTB...don't have anything by them yet. Heard lots of positive vibe on this board for them.... Went out for some errands this morning, and stopped into the Record Exchange....was thumbing through the relatively small jazz/new age/cjaz section, and stumbled upon a real find... Metro's Tree People. So far I've heard it through all of one time but I'm loving it so far- Vic Bailey is a monster on the bass, and of course Chuck Loeb and Mitch Forman are their usual excellent. I haven't heard of the drummer, Wolfgang Haffner before, but he's outstanding too. It's familiar enough to recognize but has enough variety and such to seperate it from the usual smooth jazz release. I'd say this is more fusion and contemporary jazz than smooth, by far. Oh yeah, meant to mention....it's an hour and four minutes. Now that's fair, getting an hour of music for your bucks. (Which in my case was a deal at $6) Later TY

Originally posted by Bonnie S.: Dave...the DTTB CD is also my favorite of theirs. Funky horn section and better melodies along with their signature groove. Their second release Urban Grooves is mighty special....The only thing wrong with the trac "The Zodiac" is that it ends. Five keyboards (B3, Rhodes, piano, synth and clavinet)are highlighted on the trac. My favorite trac of all time. Stuart Wade's best work may be New Jazz Hustlers - "New Jazz City" (he would probably agree). It was released about the same time as Urban Grooves and has several DTTB players. Later TYI'm glad you're digging that cd! I've promoting/pushing Metro since I first heard them in the mid 90's! I love the way they incorporate classical music into the jazz aspect of their recordings! Wolfgang Haffner is a well known German drummer who is extremely good! You need to hear their live cd only available at Mitchel Forman's website. Mitchel Forman really busts loose on that one!

Dennis Chambers, Jeff Berlin, Dave Fyuczynski and T Lavitz - Boston T Party
This one should get some notice just for such, shall we say, unusual song titles: D'funk'd (Great) Ball of Issues I Hate the Blues (But Here's One Anyway), and ... Foxy Morons
