I just noticed that on Frank Gambale's site he mentions a reunion tour with Chick and the rest of the Elektric Band this summer, and that a new Elektric Band CD is due out this year. Dave Weckl's website says the same thing, but nothing from Chick's, Eric Marienthal's, or John Patitucci's website. What have you guys heard? Is the full line-up going to be on tour together?

No, I have not heard but I'll get the CD if Chick Corea is playing on it. I can't wait to hear his new Motif.

When we saw the Ripps last September, Eric M had just come back from a reunion tour of Europe, if memory serves me correctly...haven't seen a CD of it though, but I would love to, I always liked that band!

This is from Eric's news on his website, dated 9/2003:

"Both the Rippingtons and The Chick Corea Elektric Band tours this summer were incredible. The new Ripps record, "LET IT RIPP", is a killin' CD and the music comes across live really well. Chick's band is recording a new record this month and yes, I'm practicing….. a lot! The new music to me seems like it's going to be very different and very, very cool. That record is supposed to come out in the spring of 2004 and we'll be touring a lot to support it, no doubt."

Sounds like it will be a great record! I still keep 'Light Years' and 'Beneath the Mask' in regular rotation in my CD player.
