I have heard the samples of Turning Point and Jon Barry and really dug what I heard! I have heard everyone speak highly of them both but for the life of me, I can't find either one in any of the local record shops! Their is not even a tagged slot for either band . I know I can order the CD's online but I am tring to cut back on my ordering online.

Does anyone have a suggestion how I can find one without ordering online?

This is also evidence of our shrinking "Jazz Sections" in the stores. I saw where Turning Point has at least five or six CDs out, but not even a tag where they should be. What gives?

Roger-
I'm afraid online may be the only way to get some of these CD's- direct from the artist. Either they aren't being marketed nationwide, or they haven't signed up with a distributor. Several years back, when I worked in a retail record store, we could order just about anything through a record distribution company that we used for small quantity stuff. (That company doesn't seem to exist anymore, can't find it listed....) I think some record stores still will order CD's for you, as long as it's in the computer's listing for whatever distributor they use. Can't guarantee it though....try the bigger ones like media play, and best buy, and barnes and nobles to see if they do special orders.
I've ordered an odd CD or two from Ernie's records here in Charlotte, not sure if they have one in Columbia, but there should be somebody like that in a town that size......you would think.
It appears it's cheaper in most cases to go order from the artist's website anyway- they cut you a little slack since they don't have to pay a retailer's markup. Not always, but sometimes.
Gotta go, good luck!

Hi Sppir Naf,

The Jon Barry Project are from right up the road from me in Austin, TX. They are very good live, I've had the chance to see them a few times, they opened up for Boney James a while back.

For more information, please see:

I hope this helps! Enjoy.
