Whew...Phil...are you a music professor?..what a multi-part question!!!

Anyway, for Trumpet, I would choose Chris Botti--he's fresh and exciting
For Piano/Keyboards, I would choose Keiko Matsui--I love her elegant way of playing
Hey, what about guitar?...that would be a toss-up between Russ Freeman and Craig Chaquico.
That's all I could come up with for now.

Nice to see some quick responses. This is an apology for omitting the "guitar." What was I thinking? Here's mine:

1. Tenor Saxophone - Stanley Turrentine
2. Alto Saxophone - Eric Marienthal
3. Soprano Saxophone - Jay Beckenstein
4. Trumpet - Randy Brecker
5. Trombone - Andy Martin
6. Drums - Will Kennedy
7. Bass - Gary Willis
8. Piano/Keyboard - Tom Schuman
9. Percussion - Don Alias
10. Vibes - Dave Samuels
11. Guitar - Pat Metheny

David . . .

Mr. Richter on vibes. Don't know anything about him. Mind filling me in?

Alzheimer's must be onsetting. How about adding #12, the "violin." My choice has to be:

12. Regina Carter

Hey Phil, I don't know where he came from but he had a moderate hit a couple of years ago. I bought his cd 'Vibes Alive' He's got who's who of jazz making guest appearances. Such as John Robinson on drums, John Pena on bass, Jeff Lorber, Jimmy Johnson, Jimmy Haslip, Will Kennedy and Carlos Vega on drums. A very nice cd!! Check it out. I should have picked Dave Samuels for vibes. Don't know how I missed that one. Dirk is pretty good though. Totally different styles.
