I saw an interview Morrissey did on the Craig Kilborn show a few months back and Craig told Morrissey that although he still listens to the Smiths...he has been listening to more jazz lately. Morrissey gave him the evil eye and told him he shouldn't be listening to jazz at all. He's obviously still a stubborn arse.

Oops, I mentioned Toto and forgot Andy Narell's solo on "Mushanga" from the The Seventh One album.

hmm.

jay beckenstein played on a dream theater song. he even had to go on tour with them, just to play that one song, though they also employed his talent in the live show to a song that didnt have sax on the album version. it was a wikid addition.

first time i heard of nathan east, was him playing on joe satriani's self titled album.

level 42 were really quite jazzy in the sense of having cool bass solos in their live shows.

\:o I'm doing an inventory of my CD collection, see. And one of the long-hidden discs is Billy Joel's "52nd Street."
Well, when I popped it into my computer so my various players could get the CDDB info, I get a prompt from Sony Music to install a movie player. I never knew this disc was enhanced. It has videos of Honesty, My Life and Big Shot.
Anyway, in checking the liner notes to see if I had overlooked any indication that it is enhanced, I find Freddie Hubbard (Povo, Red Clay) as the trumpet soloist on the jazz-inspired Zanzibar. Randy and Michael Brecker are also on the disc.

Well, I've always had a soft spot for James Taylor- he can be jazzy at times, and usually his lyrics are either fun or thought provoking, or both.... Example songs from his website, Your Smiling Face, Everyday, Little More Time.
I think most of the time, the bassist is Jimmy Johnson of early Rippingtons days, and Flim and the BB's.
Not sure who plays keys, but last time I saw them on the E! channel live, it was great.
