People, like i said before, this recording takes me back to their early stuff. We have here one of their best releases to add with "Three Wishes" and "Heart of the Night". I remeber posting that IMT wasn't like "Three Wishes" and now i understand that TW was SG'S debut with a new lineup. The sound on that relaese is powerful and charging. It was like "hey we still can do this". The same goes with IMT. The more i listen to it, the more i find interesting things on it. Remember, "Three Wishes", "Heart of the Night" and "In Modern Times" have each their own personality even though they share being "best releases".

This new release tells us that SG will be arround for long and that their creativity is increasing each year. And that vintage sound is a contagious thing!!!!!.

Maybe i'll catch them in Oct 13 in St. Thomas and experience those great new songs live!!!!!!!!

I saw Spyro Gyra at the Newport Beach Jazz Festival on May 19. The whole set consisted of material from "In Modern Times". I agree with you. It was like being at a SG concert from the early eighties - very laid back and they are still the tightest band in contemporary jazz! Hope you get a chance to experience a live concert of IMT soon. I think you'll really like it.

Great Tyree, I've seen them 8 times ( last time was last November when they came here to Puerto Rico) and i can't wait to catch them in St. Thomas next October. The new songs are great an i know that they have to sound better in live format.
