Around 1980 or 1981, my father purchased a Tekniques audio turntable.As a gift with purchase, he received a compilation album with various artists, one of which was Spyro Gyra.There was a song on this album that I liked at the time but I can't remember the name.
Anyone familiar with this?

Without hearing it, there's really not much we can do. Their catalog is very extensive. I suggest you go to a music website that has a lot of audio samples, look up what releases Spyro had during that time period, and listen to a few. You may recognize the song you're inquiring about. Or, you may hear something else they've done that you like, and you may be inspired to purchase it.

If it was 1980 or 1981, I offer the following titles:
Shaker Song
Morning Dance
Catching the Sun
Cafe Amore
Foxtrot
Sweet and Savvy
Freetime

There are other possibilities, but the first three are the most likely choices as they were the group's early "singles" with Morning Dance being the only "hit" single. I can't imagine any compilation made at that time having anything but one of those three songs.
I mention the others because they did get some radio play or, in the case of the last two, have been performed in concert.

Question, what year was it that Gyra's City Kids album come out?

Was Eddie Gomez teamed up with Gadd on "Conversations" or am I thinking of "Skywriter" on Schuu's first side project(or both)??

Schuu told me something interesting about the rythm track on "Skywriter"...but if he's lurking, I'll let him share it if he wants to.

The Gadd Gang is an awesome band! Steve and Eddie makes that band groove it's butt off!!
