Hey all, I was wondering if any of you cover any Spyro tunes? I've got about 12 of them written in fake book form for my (non-profit) group. A buddy of mine wants to play half of his senior recital as a tribute to Spyro. What drew me in to SG so long ago (hehe, makes me sound old) were their chords and voicings. I like talking about this, but I'm rambling, kinda talking to myself... let me know if any of you play their stuff and what your take on it is.

Yeah, my band "JIGSAWW" plays 'Morning Dance'. We of course don't have a mallet player so we have a keyboardist playing that part. A fairly easy tune to play. However, the drums have to be just right or the tune doesn't sound the same.

Well so far we've picked Heart of the Night, Lost and Found, Breathless, Valentino's, and Breakfast at Igor's for the recital. Hey Eril, do you have a lead sheet for Conversations?

Man!!!!

It's heartening and inspiring to see all you guys who are into Spyro...who are ALSO performing their music!
I can strum three beginners shords on the guitar, but I am no musician... my appreciation is limited to as a fan only.
QUESTION:

What Spyro composition do you guys find is the most complex....the hardest to play(excluding non availability of an istrument as a reason)????

Peace!
Paul

Wow, I don't really know right now... what's been happening lately is that I set out to write a lead sheet of a song and it just flows. None of them have been too hard (to write, that is), in fact I did 6 in one weekend. Playing them is a whole different matter, though. I suppose the hardest ones so far are Ruled By Venus (due to the syncopation in the rhythm section) and Birks Law for some unknown reason (well, we've only ran it once or twice). I've written On Liberty Road out, but we haven't ran it yet. I've got a lot of finals right now, but evenutally Real Time will be my next project, then I'd like to do Midnight and Escape Hatch. Well, there's always next semester.

Take Care,
Matt

Hi Guys!!!

Well, for me one of the hardest songs to play is incognito. specially the "bridge". The other one is conversations. I am a piano player myself and i've been listening to spyro for 19 years. but one thing is listening and other thing is playing it. Also Tom Composes almost all the challenching songs from SG.

Yes, I'd have to agree that Tom's compositions are the most challenging to play and transcribe. But they are a blast at the same time. All I can say is keep them coming!

Sorry Matt I did'nt saw your question about the sheet for conversations. Nope, I don't have a sheet for it. I just sat down one day with the guys and listened to it over and over and it came out just right.
Now , i do have a song book from thier first album to city kids. I bought it here at a music store like ten years ago , but it doesn't include conversations.
