Aside from a couple of tracks that I still put in the "take em of leave em" catagory....after not hearing this record from start to finish for several years I was quite blown away....

The jewel is the progressive "Pyrimad".....but Joyride, Del Corazon, Cayo Hueso and the muscular "Serpentine Shelly" are top notch as well!

Peace!

Paul

This was the first with Joel and the last with Oskar, right? I liked this cd a lot when it came out.

Actually, this was with Richie Morales on drums and Robert Vally on bass. It came out shortly after my first time seeing the group live, and was the only time I saw them in person before an album's release. Oscar debuted on Rites of Summer, and Joel debuted on the two new songs on Collection: What Exit and You Can Count on Me.

Oh....and perhaps due it being a more expensive way of recording, "Stories Without Words" is Spyro Gyra's first and only DDD recording.....meaning digitally recorded, mixed, and mastered.

Pyramid....see, I can spell, when I am not being rushed off the cmptr trmnl.

BTW....the first time I experienced SWW compositions live was at the Long Beach Jazz Festival....Spyro played an hour set.....a seven song set, and they opened with Cayo Hueso, Shelly, and Corazon, with all three tracks very well received!

Peace!
