Paul brought up the use of the "set list" by the band at their concerts.

I was wondering what your "ideal" Spyro Gyra "set list" would include? What 15 compositions and two "encore" numbers would you like to hear on a given concert evening?

Phil,

This one will take some thinking....any rules? Should we try to set it up in anyway shape or form like the band does now(For example, usually beginning with a Beckenstein composition, featuring a couple of Schuman pieces...then a Julio piece or two, then a song or two that showcase Scott and then Joel...or should we simply choose our ultimate 15 songs assuming the band would play them without reguard to individual showcases?)

I do know that my opener would definitely be:

Old San Juan(this one just seems to be the perfect mood setter)

Will be back with the other 14 later...I have a feeling that "Incognito" and "Conversations" will definitely be on the list too!

Peace!
Paul

Peace!

Hello!
I've recently joined UBB and thought this would be a nice first topic. ^_^ Hmm...let's see, the first song would have to be "Pipo's Song" for the other selections, I'd include: Shaker Song, De La Luz, Breathless, Three Sisters, Havana Moonlight, that song Kim Stone wrote about "Bob" the dog, South American Sojourn, Cascade, Morning Dance, Jennifer's Lullaby (although Rosenblatt might not be able to play), Rollercoaster, Cabana Carioca, Silk and Satin, and Para Ti Latino.

April,

WELCOME ABOARD! Good picks for your ultimate set list.
I decided that I'd take the easy way out, and structure my own "ultimate set list" this way:

1)Old San Juan
2)Incognito
3)Conversations
4)Mardi Gras
5)Breakout
6)Del Corazon
7)The Archer
8)Swing Street
9)Escape Hatch
10)Whitewater
11)South Beach
12)On Liberty Road
13)De La Luz

14)The Unwritten Letter
15)Havana Moonlight

Of course the band would have to be called back for a second encore after a set like that! So....

16)Alexandra
17)Pacific Sunrise

I'd also give the band alternate choices that they could pull out every 5 or 6 concerts:

Sunflurry for Mardi Gras
Freefall for Breakout
Joyride for Del Corazon
Limelight for The Archer(I love CapKarm, lrd seen it two tours)
Hannibal's Boogie for Swing Street
Tower Of Babel or Bright Lights for Escape Hatch
Real Time For Whitewater
Bahia or Burkes Law for South Beach
Group Therapy for On Liberty Road(maybe Lost and Found)
Valentino's , J Squared, or When Evening Falls for De La Luz
South American Sojourn for The Unwritten Letter
Pure Mood for Havana Moonlight
Swept Away for Alexandra
Shaker Song, or Morning Dance For Pacific Sunrise.

Man, was THAT FUN! OK, Jay, Tom, Julio, Scott, and Joel.....that's one less thing to think about for the Y2K TOUR!!! OK, maybe you will have to expand the set to 18-20 songs to include new material from you next record...we will allow you that!!!

Peace!
Paul
