Does anyone have any idea if SG might possibly stop sometime this spring - summer - or fall (I'm not picky) in anyplace so very boring as perhaps KANSAS CITY? You know - the birthplace of jazz, 18th & Vine, The Gem Theatre, Jazz Museum???? I seem to see a lot of skipping over the midwest on the posted tour dates.
Just wondering.

Yes - I know how to go to the tour page and see the list. I'm just wondering if they might come to someplace a little closer to me. There's very little here in the midwest.

This is kind of "off subject", but I think you folks will find it interesting...

I went with my wife to see Josh Groban in concert here in Atlanta Tuesday night. I had no idea who would open for him or even if there would be an opening act. Much to my surprise, when they introduced the opening act, it was Chris Botti! As I listened to Chris and his band playing, I noticed a familiar, rather unique style on the drums. I almost said to my wife, "I'll bet that's Billy Kilson on the drums". And then, when Chris announced his final number, he said "this is featuring the great Billy Kilson on drums!". I was right!

(Note to Woody: I guess I'm justifying this post under the Spyro Gyra section because both Chris and Billy have played with Spyro Gyra. ;\) )

Let me say that it was quite a treat to hear an act the calibre of Chris Botti and his band at a concert like this (I enjoyed Josh Groban and can appreciate his talent... but I'm not a big fan). Also, I was very impressed with Billy Kilson's technical ability and musical expression... and he did an AWESOME solo! His style is not my favorite, but still very enjoyable to listen to. Oh, and Chris Botti is a really good live performer... I would love to hear him sit in with SG sometime!

Rick, you should actually SEE Billy Kilson play. His facial contortions are just as amusing as his drum play is entertaining.
(Note to Rick: I'm not the moderator; D is. And even if I were, you wouldn't have to explain that.)

Chin up.... many of the tours are in the planning stages.

Once a promoter gets a date worked out, the agent sometimes calls back and says "the routing has changed, can we look at that date again?"

So keep your eye on the tour page.

Sorry, Woody, I thought you were the moderator. In any case, I was just "pulling your chain"... not really concerned about my post. \:\)

As for the concert... yes, you're right... we were in Philips Arena, a HUGE venue (14,000 people at this concert) and our seats weren't bad but definitely nowhere near close enough to see facial expressions. I'd like to see/hear him play again sometime...
